Next Navy QB!!!

The "Prep" has like 8-10 power 5 recruits, and a LB heading to West Point.

Navy has to get some consistency/chemistry from the QB position. Lots of injuries, but coaches seemed to flip guys in and out as well.
And decide what they want. In this (whatever this is) offense, qb has to be able to:

In this order:

1. Hurt opponent with his feet
2. Hurt opponent with his decision making
3. Take care of the football
4. Be able to throw a little

Last couple of years, the closest I saw, after a rough start, was Blake just before he got hurt.

We have some weapons on offense, so much so that one of our better wr’s is now starring on the basketball team.

Without solid QB play we’re doomed to more of what you saw the last 3 years..

That said, defense has been pretty stout during this same time period..

My plebe class had FOUR Parade Magazine All-American QBs, in the days before USA Today, this was pretty much as much national rank as there was and certainly no more than one from a state/region. Of the four, just two ever made first string varsity at USNA and only one did it as a QB.

That said, I hope he continues to wow 'em at USNA and gets himself a sweater full of stars.
Maybe you should check the kid out before you go negative because of unrelated past history.

That brings back memories. I loved reading Parade magazine - including the football edition - when I was a kid.

Excellent question..
Pretty sure direct recruit. No dummy. I am also a Steel-high Roller grad and somewhat familiar with him

Maybe you missed this part of his post:

NAPS had a strong QB this year as well. Looking ahead, the QB room at Navy will be a crowded one, and that's a great thing. Rising tides...
Go Navy!!
…as long as they stay…

I read a recent article about Coach Ken’s new position at UCLA, and that a current Navy football player is transferring over to play with him. The new school is (supposedly) paying his repayment to Navy via NIL monies.

I think the that’s the bigger challenge, overall, to sports than who comes in initially.

Agreed. What little chance left for the SAs had to compete have been lost over the past couple years.
No NIL, No xfer portal incoming.

Maybe if the big 2-4 conferences split off completely, then they can compete again within their 2nd tier division. But, that would likely mean lots less tv money.

College football is done as we knew it. It’s professional minor league with no salary cap and every player is a free agent. There’s a good argument to be made that players should be monetarily compensated but it’s past time to dump the term “student athlete”. It’s always been a toy for alumni boosters. The path forward is to separate football from the college and have the affiliation be a licensing agreement in which the school trades on their name and likeness , rents their facilities, and perhaps takes a percentage of the merch. We’re kind of there already.

[Commodus] Gladiator … “what is your name?”

[Maximus] “My name is Maximus Decimus Meridias, commander of the armies of the north, general of the Felix legions, loyal servant to the true emperor Marcus Aurelius, father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife, and I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.”

My Gladiators navigate highly modified motorized 2-wheel on-road & off-road machines …. The factory riders train like decathletes … and on race day … they earn each dollar on the edge …

My Gladiators are also every man/woman who serves or has served to protect and defend this great Country of ours …. But they are doing it for real, not for sport … which makes them heroes …

NGL not totally familiar with this guy, but Navy's new OC is Mercer's Head Coach Drew Cronic (shoutout Macon and Mercer lol). He is definitely into passing and I could see him draw recruits like Erby, who really want to pass. Hopefully they can combine for a high powered offense lol

... so just my $0.02 football comments:

* San Jose and Coach Ken. "Karma
comes, full circle." Coach Ken is from Hawaii. He played for Hawaii and later became a graduate assistant. And San Jose plays Hawaii during the regular season. Just happy for Coach Ken and his family.

** Coach Saban's Retirement and 'Bama. This is the only college team that I watch during the regular season (well other than Navy due to DS '26). When I heard about the retirement, I thought ok, I still have Navy. Long story but I grew up near Coach Saban's hometown. My father served as a physician there in late '70s - early '80s.

***Navy Football. New Offensive Coordinator Drew Cronic was the former Mercer Head Coach (9-4).
Needed much offensive guru to jumpstart the offense. Should be exciting to watch... especially for the Midshipmen.😎
