  • Thank you for your helpful information. My son is now in contact with his academy counselor and so we are praying that he will be granted a waiver. Since my son returned from NASS last June, he has talked more about attending an academy than anything in his entire life. He wanted the Naval Academy but is now most interested in the Air Force Academy because he truly hopes to fly... Thank you for taking your valuable time to post answers to so many of our questions! I am so very grateful to you especially, because your answers have been so helpful to the parents of the future "hopeful" cadets. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
I have found your information to be invaluable. I am a mom of a candidate who is currently disqualified due to knee surgery that took place last spring. He has a full medical release for any and all activities. He went to NASS and participated in everything with no restrictions. He just finished a very successful football season (varsity) and current varsity basketball season. He has had no problems whatsoever, and the surgeon has written to DoDMERB stating that he is in great shape and under no medical limitations at all. Can you give advice on obtaining a medical waiver for the Air Force and Naval Academies. My son is Principal Nominee to the Air Force and Principal Alternate to the Naval Academy.
Christcorp, I have seen you post on a lot of threads as I was browsing, especially those concerning race and ethnicity. I was wondering if i could ask you something directly.

I am a first generation Asian American from the Silicon Valley, which has almost a 40% Asian population. Would my background cause me any disadvantage from being admitted into the Academy?

I first had some suspicions when I failed to receive a nomination from my representative, Mike Honda, yet I managed to receive one from Senator Boxer. As Rep. Honda is also an Asian American, do you suppose it is likely that i didn't receive a nomination from him in case it is shown as bias?
Yes, some subjects become too emotional. I really despise the whole PC thing. My military service and civilian live has been aimed at mutual respect. I usually flair back at people who go PC. PC has done more to divide individuals than to bring them closer. We should concentrate on our commonalities and not our differences.
Thank you for your posts on the lawsuit!! I think that everyone IS getting tied up w/ the PC thing and TOTALLY missing the point!! The supe did not ask this speaker to come and spread the gospel, but instead to inspire those young men and women who will undoubtably confront hardships and difficulties while serving their country!! My father in law was a POW for 6yrs in Hanoi and frequently speaks all around the country as an inspirational speaker (he has spoken MANY times at USAFA) While I would not consider him a terribly religious man, he often refers to his "Ball of Faith", when asked how he endured the 6 yrs of tourture. What he then explains this to be is WHATEVER one hold dear to them..their family, their God, their friends ect..
Thanks for all the great info. I don't always post but i have enjoyed your perspective and candor on many of the threads. I have a C4C in Tiger 10 and can not wait to meet all of you at Thudgate.
Hi, I'm taking the SAT's one more time and I'm wondering if the scores will be available to USAFA by the deadline. The next test is this weekend (January 24th), and the scores are available online by Febuary 12th. But according to collegeboard USAFA recieves these scores by mail which takes two to three weeks. Is there anything I can do to make sure that USAFA gets the scores in time, or at least considers them? I saw in a previous post about rush delivery but I could find no mention of this on collegeboard's site.
    Thanks, Ryan
