My son got an LOA for USAFA last year. He was not a recruited athlete. He was a 4.0 student but had average SAT scores. I think what tipped the scales was his leadership activities (he was a three sport varsity athlete as well).

Classes begin August 6th!

My son received a LOA last year in December. We were amazed as they are few and far between. He is now a C4C class of 2023....It's been quite a ride! Get ready for the rollercoaster!:)

So I guess he could accept as a back-up until I-day but once I-day hits, then he would need to rescind them anyways....

Good to know - that's what I was thinking that I had read - that as soon as they report on I-day the ROTC scholarships are null and void. Thanks for confirming.

If my son has already accepted his service academy appointment, is there any reason to accept AFROTC or NROTC scholarships? My son has accepted his appointment to USAFA - yay!...he had also applied for NROTC and AROTC and corresponding colleges for his back-up plan. He received both NROTC and AFROTC scholarships. I understand that he can accept both and they will become null and void once he reports to the academy...

Does anyone know an estimated time on when USAFA posts travel and packing list information? The portal just says to watch for info coming....

Does USAFA send a formal appointment packet in the mail or do they only have the offer show up in the portal? My son received an appointment to West Point as well and they sent a large packet in the mail but we haven’t received anything from USAFA yet...only the USAFA appointment showing up...

He contacted the Naval Academy and they said that a waiver is being requested for him. They said it should show up as to what we need to do on Dodmerbs site soon- hopefully we will know something soon!

My son returned his administrative remedial form about a week ago. How long does it typically take for them to show receipt of it and process it?....I just want to make sure that they have it in their system. (We faxed it and then emailed it to his contact). Thanks!

My understanding from further clarification from dodmerb is that the form showed corrected to 20/20 minus which means he missed one letter on the 20/20 line so will probably go to waiver and need to be tested again!...his prescription is -1.75 in both eyes...

Does anyone know if you can take the CFA and if you don’t like your scores, not turn them in and just try taking it again?...my son wants to do the CFA with his coach but wants the option of not using the scores if he thinks he can do better in a month or so of more practice... So basically...
