    SWAB summer “graduation”

There’s a shoulder board ceremony on the Monday after Sea Trials and swab summer are completed. While it’s probably possible to witness, it’s not really geared towards a “public” event. Parents weekend will be the first big event and I’d especially encourage any 4/c Parents to make that weekend if able.

Rising 3/c Summer Assignments Other Than Eagle

Haveaniceday thanks for the response. That’s more or less what I figured - it’s fairly analogous to careers - it’s more about what you make of the opportunities you are given. Some of my best assignments were ones I didn’t ask for or have grand expectations. Thanks for sharing your thoughts...

Rising 3/c Summer Assignments Other Than Eagle

ProudMom7 - Thank you especially for the 2024 insights. That’s a class who’s academy experience has been presented with its own unique set of challenges and experiences. They’ve had to deal with, adapt and overcome more than most including things no class before or after has had to face. An...

Rising 3/c Summer Assignments Other Than Eagle

Anyone have insight on the summer assignments process for rising 3/c cadets? While overwhelming majority of cadets go to Eagle for six weeks in Phase I or Phase II, a small number of cadets go directly to a cutter for 11 weeks. Is there anything rational or significance to this 11 week...

    Thanksgiving Leave Travel Planning

Any experienced parent, cadet, faculty etc able to provide input on how to approach planning and advance purchasing of round-trip airlines tickets for cadet Thanksgiving break? Insight sharing/lessons learned would be appreciated by me and probably many others. After LMO Tuesday is pretty...

    PT requirements to apply

While probably none of us can speak authoritatively about how the scores factor in to the admissions equation, there are actually some minimum thresholds for the PFE. If memory serves for example, I believe you have to score 130 or greater at the beginning of swab summer to stick around, and...

    Swab Summer Sea Trials

FYSA - to all those following Swab Summer progress: Golf and Hotel (Eagle Phase III) completed their Sea Trials today, prior to departure for Portland and Eagle in the morning. Word is no one dropped out and I’m told ADM Kelly has stated something to the effect of “…this year was off the...

    USCGA Application Question

Tenacity and continued growth will carry weight and tend to play well in this process. No outsiders can guarantee results, or prescribe a winning formula because in the end selection is not just about you in isolation… that said tenacity and continued growth have definitely served others well...

    Early admission vs regular admission

Early August as I recall… initially a phone call from AO, followed by formal letter a few weeks later.

    Early admission vs regular admission

One more personal opinion from a parent of the class of 2025 for what it’s worth…. My DD received an LOA and that made it a no brainer, as EA was a requirement condition for accepting the assurance offer. EA is s a critical decision, with significant risk and reward. Our Overly simplified...

CGA Cadet Auto Coverage & USAA

DD is current swab and on our USAA auto policy. She’ll obviously not drive much at all in the next few years, but dont want her uncovered. So is the right answer to drop her, keep her or get her own policy given she’s now AD and will continue to be full time student? I’ve heard USAA may have...

I thought I responded to this, but don’t see evidence…but I’m not sure - we’re down state in the Stl area, but I grew up in Chicagoland. What company did your daughter get? Ours will be in Hotel.

    Waitlist Class of 2025

Admissions gives considerable weight to tenacity and resolve, particularly to re-applicants who move the needle to better themselves. What an applicant brings to the CGA to satisfy its multifaceted needs in building the class mosaic becomes a key discriminator among otherwise supremely...
