‘25 PS so far

My Firstie still reminisces about a PS Chit Surfer in his company/squad. Yep…that reputation never leaves. And when that parent goes on and on (and on and on and on….) about their child? Sometimes it’s hard to bite my tongue. But of course I do.

That reputation never goes away. Don’t be that Mid.

T-minus 19H til we launch to Annapolis. Hoping to make it in time to see dinner formation and perhaps catch a glimpse of DS.

I am sure they have earned this short respite and equally assured they will pay for it next week. But all will be well.

I hope that you go on deck to see their room and meet some of their company mates. You may find that it is the only time you get to go inside Bancroft Hall. The other chance is during 2/C weekend - but with things like the Ronapocalypse - there may not be a 2/C weekend.

That is plan for tomorrow after the noontime formation and they get released.

Pickup was a success. Chilling back at hotel eating pizza and catching up on TV. Also crushing the fresh fruit we brought. Of course this was after a long shower.

It sure was soupy at the Yard this morning. I thought I was used to humidity but this a different level.

DS reported that 23 Plebes have dropped out Most not by choice but due to injuries. Not bad in IMHO. Sounds like the Positive Pressure for a Purpose is working.

DS mentioned that PEP is tolerable due to the antics of Maj Antonelli. One PEP Maj Antonelli showed up In full Scottish kilt and makeup carrying a broadsword. He also brought a Bagpipe group.

They have done lots of “talking to the bulkhead” and been dropped more times than he can count. During our visit to his room he said it was nice not having to “chop” his his way up the ladders and across the deck. He knows next week will be challenging, particularly HellO Night, but is looking forward to classes starting. Yes my DS is the nerd type who likes school. In fact his company mates rated him as “too serious” all the time. He does not feel bad for that rating.

Side note: during parent talk, The ‘Dant announced class of ‘23 Herndon will be in two weeks.

So as predicted my DS was ready to head back to the Yard at 9pm. Got there in no time and got through gate 8 quickly. The drive in pass is awesome. Walked Stribling Walk in the rain to kill time. Left him around 9:45 and headed out. The line into gate 8 was definitely longer but not quite to Baltimore Ave.

Sounds like you navigated it like a pro. Something I hope to do in September for the USAFA game. Very happy for your visit and this occasion. Enjoy the rest of your visit!

Yes, drive in pass is awesome! 🥳
We arrived around 9:50 pm, parked and visited with DS until 10:15 pm. DH and I got a good chuckle watching all of the Plebes speed walk past us to Mother B…

Dodge the storms. It's gonna be a nasty weekend.
There was some incredible lightening last night. Today another balmy humid morning. Alumni Association next project should be for an awning to cover the bleachers at Worden Field. Shade would be nice. Although in about ten years the maple trees may be tall enough to provide some cover.

At the Plebe Sponsor Meet & Greet, I asked about classmates headed to Tango, chit surfers, etc. Yep, still a part of life on the Yard and well-known to their classmates. The Brigade has an uncanny nose for those legitimately ill or injured, and those who seem to be dicey.

Parade was a nice event and glad I only have do that once. Even at 0930 the Annapolis heat and humidity off the charts. No Plebes dropped surprisingly. Lots of dropped bayonets and one plebe somehow marched past review stand with no cover. The cannon fire was cool especially as the sound reverberate up the river.

I am looking forward to seeing pictures from PPW. Somehow overnight I was placed in Facebook jail so I am a ghost for the time being in terms of seeing posts from parents and USNA.
Happy you are all enjoying it.

So fail on my part. Went to chapel on Yard and planned to pick up donuts from Amish market. Only to discover not open on Sundays :(. Sandy Pony donuts was nearby so gave that a try. Similar to Duck Donuts. Next visit I will plan for Amish market on Saturday.

Amish folks come down from PA in buses and go back every evening, Thurs-Sat. They don’t drive them of course. No Sunday work. They focus on church, family and friends that day.
