The plebes should just be silly happy from the delights of meeting dozens and dozens of upperclass eager to welcome them, along with cheerfully building the To Do lists that have rocketed skyward in the last day or so. 😬
 
DS just called home. PS is over on to next phase. Parade was cancelled tonight. He did not talk long as he lots to do and now “was on own to get it done.” Go Navy. Time to start a new thread??? Thanks again for all the support.

yes our plebe said tonight was awesome! so much fun - she texted us and said she was free - then FaceTimed us and I heard her roomie ask if she could go to the bathroom - my plebe said we don't have to ask to do that anymore - we are normal humans again (not really normal) ha!!! then she told us everything she had to do - let the AC year begin!!!
 
I do really miss the FB parent page. I may someday be out of FB Jail. But regardless of that I am so happy to hear here that things went well.
My DS arrived on the Yard from a red eye flight from San Diego at 0600 today. Lots on the calendar. Lots to do to be ready for the AC year. Happy with the new company. Hell-o night was a blast.

In the current times, I am profoundly grateful for the choice of our current young men and women to serve. As I have been for my entire life. The young men and women who are the classes of ‘24 and ‘25 were babes when 9/11 occurred.
I am humbled. Grateful.

I haven’t found much use with the FB pages tbh.

My son was born 2.5 months before 9/11. When in elementary school, one of his teachers got a hero’s welcome because he took a leave from the school and went to Afghanistan in the army to fight and came back to a celebration.

It was that celebration that planted serving country in his mind. Fortunately for him his high school record was excellent and he was able to attend USNA.

He called last night and said 2/7 os today. Asked me my thoughts. I told him it was his decision and I support him no matter his choice. He already made up his mind that this is his path.

Wow ..what did you do ? I've got lots of Classmates and friends ( about 90% of my Facebook friends are USNA Classmates or people I served with) who have done time in the Facebook friend , and many who deliberately poke the bear, but nobody has been deleted.

(I've been so tempted to create an Alter Ego so I can say what I really think, but have done a pretty good job of keeping a low profile).

I have no idea. I didn't post anything political, nothing incendiary, nothing that would/should illicit even a suspension. I posted something positive on a USNA page for 2025 parents for PPW weekend. It had 300 likes Friday night. Saturday am I was gone. Ghosted. No warning, nothing. I attempted to recover the account and the only information I was provided was something along the lines of "we limit how often you can post, comment or do other things in a given amount of time to help protect the community from spam".

Personally, I think it's absolute horse&*^% since they continuously blow up my feed with unwarranted ads, 'fact checker' bubbles etc.
I'm just frustrated to lose the pictures.
Based on my research, it's happening a lot and with more frequency. So note to self, download the pictures you want to keep.

I closed my FB account almost a year ago, and do not miss it one bit.

My wife's friend had a similar message. FB has an algorithm that assumes you are a spammer if you do too many posts on a given page in a given period of time.

There was a mom on the fb page looking for you. I was wondering what happened to your profile.. Now it completes the picture.

I have not been on the FB since Nov 10th 2016. Too much vitriol and hate from both sides and I decided I had enough. Have never looked back.

No. That cannon fire reverberated off of me.

DD was on crutches, so I found a nice quiet bench by the water to watch the whole event from a distance. Was not really paying attention to the crew between the water and me. Welcome to the Navy.
