for those of you who received the "offer extended" on Feb. 25, do you mind telling me when youre application was fully completed? I'm curious to see where I'm at in the stack of applicants.
 
Well...son has not heard anything, but his app was completed Sept. 25, with of course the nominations, which he received December 20 and 24...he is still waiting on word...

mdsu: doesn't matter when your application was submitted. Envision if you will a giant spreadsheet. Candidates with the WCS's, nominations, medical status, etc. When everyone on your MOC slate has everything complete (remember, the deadline for application completion has just now passed....like today, I think!) .......so when everything is complete on your slate, USNA will select a candidate from that slate, extend an offer, and put the other candidates into the national pool. Some candidates may be awaiting a medical waiver. If one of those candidates is on your MOC's slate of nominees and maybe has an impressive WCS........well, then USNA may wait to see the outcome of that waiver before offering an appointment to anyone off that slate.

Now, throw another monkey wrench into the mix. Offers that were extended that are declined! It is a giant juggling act this time of year. When you completed your application, when you got your nom, etc is only a small part of the equation. And, difficult as it is to accept, you have no way to know the status of your slate (anyone awaiting med waiver, offer already extended to one candidate and others competing in nat'l pool, etc.) and you have absolutely no control over any of this.

Take a deep breath. Have a Plan B. Know if you want to re-apply again or not. And enjoy your senior year! It is helpful to understand the complexity of the process, but do not obsess over it all. Does no good.

Appointment

GoNavy2014 - Presidential, Senatorial and Congressional nominations - all in November. Call from Senator Lieberman's office January 10; followed by appointment to West Point January 12. Navy Dodmerb status "offer extended" Feb. 25. Call from Senator's Dodd's office March 3rd notifying us of appointment. BG Officer called March 3rd. Appointment letter to USNA received March 4, 2010. Our son is honored to be appointed to both academies. After careful consideration, acceptance letter will me mailed today - Go Navy 2014!!!

Just found the forum last week! Feels like a roller coaster ride reading the posts. Our entire family waits (and it's a big family!) for word - son's app completed 9/11, nom. 12/11...oh brother - just noticed this: every three months marks a milestone in the process..3/11 is just days away.

DoDMERB status has been the same since 19-AUG-09: Current medical status:pending WaiverSubmission/Review. The status date changed 05-MAR-10 after submitting an updated vision exam.
 
Don't Lose Heart...

When the day comes...usually DODMERB Status would change to "OFFER Extended" then a good 7-10 days would follow before MOC calls up with the Good News then 2 days later the Big Blue Folder arrives...for now Good Luck with the waiver review! :thumb:
