This is correct--The Falcon Foundation prepsters (myself included) all met the admissions board a few days ago, and our congressional offices have been notifying us. There are some fellow Falcons that have not heard from their congressional office. Regular candidates hear back around the late March early April time frame.

No some MOC's do not make any contact with candidates or appointees. I believe that the Academy gives them a week to contact the appointee and then the BFE will be mailed.
 
Agagles is correct MOCs have no impact on Presidential. Presidential actually is tied to the parent not the cadet.

What you are actually seeing is the slates of the MOCs are getting awarded...highest WCS., and since the board is closed now it is becoming the game of getting the highest WCS for each slate in, be it in Pres., VP, MOC, ROTC, etc. highest WCS is always the deciding factor.

I just wanted to give you a quick update on AFA selections so far. In December of last year the Air Force decided to stop offering appointments due to the fact that the AFA is currently over the number of cadets they are allowed to have at the Academy. They have offered 350 out of 1350 slots so far and will resume their offers in March so the other 1000 will be doled out. Just wanted to let you know the majority of offers will now be offered in March so no worries if you haven't heard anything yet. Let's keep our fingers crossed. You are all deserving and I wish you the best of luck. Please let me know if you hear anything.

No clue on how accurate this is but wanted to share for those of you still waiting (as we are)!

sorry, I meant principal instead of presidential. There are way too many terms on this website.

I agree definitely on the first as well. I'm not sure what he meant or where he got his information but wanted to see what others thought or were being told on this front. I guess I just thought the "only 350 slots have been offered" to be the most interesting and was curious if it was at all accurate. I also hadn't heard before that the "freeze" on appointments was theoretically due to the over-cadet-strength numbers. Thought it was fairly normal from year to year to only have minimal appointments until March anyway so I thought his implication that it was different this year was interesting.

Agreed. Other than the elimination of orientation and the reduced incoming class size, from what I've read things have progressed as usual. Maybe the ALO was just attempting to offer some reassurance to the candidates that are still waiting and reading the weekly reports of AF RIFs and USAFA budget issues.

If I'm looking at the list correctly, so far everyone has had an LOA, presidential nom or principal nom from their MOC or is a Falcon Prepster. No one listed has come through on a competitive slate from their MOC, correct? Hopefully those will start rolling soon. If anyone at the AFA is reading, everybody would LOVE to come home to a stuffed mailbox! :shake:
 
I came from the competitive slate of my congressman in December.
He only nominated 5 other people to his slate and gave us the noms about a month before my appointment. My file was complete in late October.
