2020 Hopefuls

I know this has nothing to do with the thread but could not find anything closely related. I know that a lot of anxious MIDS to be read these forums so. Remember when you have the opportunity to select that you would like a sponsor family in your appointment packet or during Plebe summer, just do it. We finished our 20152 Sleigh Ride to the 3 major and 1 AF base ( BWI, National, Dulles and Andrews) tonight. We helped get 48 MIDS home for the Holidays. It is always funny listening to the MIDS as they cant wait to get home on the drive to the airports. I know my parents explain to all our new plebes. Once you complete PS and issued your CAC card, USE IT! To save money coming and going if your are close to a military base or want to travel to somewhere warm. Use the Space A/MAC flights that are available to you. At Andrews, you have both AF AND Navy sides to choose from to catch flights for a nominal fee. Also as one of our plebes, they went to Shades of Green (military resort at Disney World Fee is based on your rank). You have a lot of opportunities to use and to save money on.

Thank you for all you do!! It is comforting to know that my DS will be cared for while at the Academy!!!

Where do you find out if you passed the CFA?
You don't. There are no minimum amounts posted anywhere. You try your hardest and hope it was enough. Some actually say there is no "minimum" and that the admission board makes the decision if your scores are SAT on a case by case basis (i.e. If you're very smart and have great extracurriculars and whatnot they might overlook the fact that you aren't a stellar athlete). I personally think it works like that because my cfa scores were just okay at best, however everything else in my app was strong and I got an appointment back in November. If you think about the mission statement-to develop mids morally, mentally, and physically-physically is really the one that anyone can improve on just by practicing.

Ben is correct, no published table of minimums. I believe the portal will update to passed if you pass the CFA.

Also, just a note for those getting appointments and lurkers. Even if you pass the CFAs, don't slow down. Take a look at the USNA PRT standards. Its a 10:30 minimum for male run times and 12:40 for ladies. An 8 minute CFA may get you in the door, but won't keep you at USNA if you can't run a 10:30. Ladies, a 12:40 is pretty slow, you should be shooting for faster than that. If running is a weakness run alot. If you are in a city large enough find a running store and get fitted for shoes, ask if they have a running group, join it and train. Lots of folks with tons of experience in these groups and training in a group can help if you know you hate running. Also lots of good coaches on these teams who can help with training programs and form improvements. If there isn't this kind of stuff in your town ask the high school cross country coach to help guide you in a good program and ways to prevent shin splints.

Well I know this is the USNA thread but if you also applied to USMA they send you an email saying you are 3Q which means you passed the physical, CFA and Academic screening

To add to NavyHoops, search in your area for military training group or program. We are fortunate that we have one near us, it's a fitness group that's run by a retired military man. While it is a business, he generously does not charge any fee for active military or SA candidates. I'm sure there are many around the nation that also do this in support of our military.

Hello everyone, I first wanted to congratulate those that have been offered an appointment this year! I am a reapplying as I did not receive an appointment for the C/O 2019. Just as of a few days ago I received a nom from my MOC and am waiting to hear back from one of my senators. I finished with a 4.0 for my first semester of college. I'm feeling pretty good and this is the life that I want. I would do anything for an opportunity to be able prove myself at NAPS. Any advice?
