Has anyone heard when the appointee visits will be for the class of 2028? I was told they would be sometime in April but I still haven't heard anything which is posing to be troublesome as I am trying to book flights but don't know when the visit is :/

I saw these dates on the 2028 USAFA parent fb group, but I believe that you need to register through the appointee portal which as far as I know hasn’t opened yet.

• Monday, 8 April 2024 – Arnold Hall Theater (400 guests)

• Friday, 12 April 2024 – Visitor Center (200 guests)

• Monday, 15 April 2024 – Visitor Center (200 guests)

• Friday, 19 April 2024 – Visitor Center (200 guests)

Can I assume you just attend one of those dates and same information is presented each time?

Are the appointee visits just a slideshow and a tour of campus?

From a parent of a 2027 C4C. Don’t panic if you can’t make the Appointee Visit. We didn’t go because we had already toured campus the year before. If you are on the fence about accepting your appointment, definitely go and have your appointee talk to cadets.

The appointees and their parents go to Polaris Hall for some brief comments and then they are separated. The appointees are divided by gender and get to speak with USAFA Cadets away from their parents. Parents are given a separate tour and sit through a couple of presentations given by a parent liaison and someone from the AOG (Assoc. of Graduates). The parents are briefed on what to expect between in-processing and Parent's Weekend and are given the Webguy hard sell. Webguy is an online service that provides parents with photos taken by a team of embedded photographers throughout the entire year. Webguy is an awesome service (highly recommended). The appointees are then reunited with their parents.

I recommend arriving a day in advance to explore Colorado Springs with your family.

There are many cool places to go including:
  • Garden of the Gods
  • Manitou Incline
  • Manitou Springs
  • WWII Aviation Museum
  • Olympic Training Center
  • Olympic Museum
  • Pikes Peak

Can someone who has attended an Appointee Visit in a previous year remember when it will wrapped up? Trying to make some tentative travel plans and any information would help. Thank you!

How important/essential is it for parents to attend?

Parents don't have to attend. You'd have to plan the logistics for the cadet. i.e. Make sure the hotel they stay at accepts 18 year olds if they stay and sort out transportation. It is fun for parents, though.

The academy hotel is a good one for 18 and up also how they'll get there

Your child will have to become very independent as a cadet, but I would suggest going with them for the visit if you can. Logistics are difficult. Flying into COS can be expensive, which means they will probably have to fly into Denver which is about 70 miles away. Just getting to Polaris Hall is about 5 miles from North Gate. The campus is huge and not very walkable. They will be too young to rent a car at the airport and Uber (from Denver) will be very expensive. It is worth going if you can. If you live in Colorado and your child can drive to USAFA, then I would say your attendance isn't essential.

We are in Texas. Still waiting on a decision. This appointee tour stresses me a bit not being able to pm and travel plans. Is this the norm? Find out end of March and attend tour immediately?
