2027 State Nominations Thread

Speaking as an OH reapplicant here. I have heard from my local congressman that his interviews will be after the election, the same as last year. I have already interviewed with Brown (October 15th) and I have not heard from Portman yet which does not surprise me. He was the last one I heard from last year and they are short-staffed this cycle. I wouldn't bother calling his office or anything, patience is the best policy. You should have received a letter if your packet was complete that confirmed they had it and would reach out if they wished to interview you. It's just a waiting game now. Hang in there!

DS got an email from Senators Booker and Menedez (NJ) jointly, single panel interview via Zoom 12-13 Nov or 19-20 Nov for consideration by both senators for their nomination.

I recently heard back from Senator Portman and have been confirmed for an interview.

Hi, I'm applying for the nomination in District 16 of New York and I was wondering how competitive people think it is. I received my Letter of Assurance in July and have completed the entirety of my application by the deadline which was earlier this month. With the nomination being the only thing left I need to get an appointment, I was wondering how competitive do you think it will be to get it? Also, how competitive are the Senators in NY?

i would think that based on proximity to 3 of 4 academies and the states population
NY would be a very competitive state to achieve a nomination
top 10 probly

New York traditionally announces nominations later than many other states . Our congresswoman (Queens ) has a deadline for nomination packages to be received of December 1. Last year DD thought she hadn’t received a nomination and then received an email on January 25 that she was nominated. Don’t panic if you don’t hear until December or even later . Good luck !

Have any Ohio applicants heard from Senators Brown or Portman regarding nomination interview dates.
I sent my nomination applications to both in August, and was notified it was received.
DS submitted nomination applications to Sen Brown, Sen Portman, and Rep Davidson in August. He interviewed in-person with Sen Brown's board on 8 Oct, Rep Davidson's board in-person on 21 Oct, and then Sen Portman's board on 22 Oct. Sen Portman's email to DS said they were having issues that delayed things a bit, so the only option was WebEx. They told DS that normally Senators Brown and Portman compare nomination lists in December. But since Sen Portman is retiring, they'll still compare with Sen Brown's board, but Sen Portman's board will have already made their decision. Rep Davidson's staff told DS they make their decision in November.

Does your DS know when Senator Portman will release nomination decisions?

Where is your residence? District 8? Is this now in effect? Or going into effect later. After nominations are done.

Call #1 staffers first to consult with them, see what they advise. Research #8, see what’s required, in case you have to move fast.

My residence is in #8. I do not know if this is effect. Different sites say different things. Ohio Secretary of State webpage has the new map, which is probably the most reliable source. The new map may only effect voting for this year? I will contact staffers for both districts today.

Staffers should know. Demonstrate your best in-person appreciate professional need-your-help approach. This has got to be crazy-making for them too.

Has anyone heard from TX Congressman Burgess (TX26) about interviews? When DS turned in his nomination application, they said to hold Nov 19 as an interview day and that the office would be in touch if you were granted an interview. I thought we might have heard by now and wondered if anyone has heard?
