2027 State Nominations Thread

Exciting news here! Despite the unbelievable outcome of the Army Navy game (I was literally sitting on Navy’s goal line 8 rows up 🙈) DS received his MOC nomination to USNA today via text while standing in line for a philly cheesesteak just before the game started. What a memory! The Congresswoman called him herself yesterday evening, but we were making our way from the train station and missed her. DS called back and then received the text today so I guess notice comes in all forms 💙⚓️💛

Congratulations! My DS got a rejection email from Senator Durbin yesterday, so we are still hoping a Senator Duckworth nom will appear in his USMA portal. He has our Congressman's nomination to USNA but is still sweating the USMA nomination because he got his 3Q letter yesterday.

My DD is done with interviews with Senator Warrens office today and yet to hear from Senator Markey on the interview.

Toomey (PA), and not yet so I'm a bit stressed, but hoping they're waiting to send in updates to portals until the time when mailed letters would arrive.

Oh wow. My son hasn’t received any letters yet from Senator Toomey (and we are located in PA). But if you said their office told you they mailed the letters already, I’m hoping this means they’ll arrive in a day or so.

Also in PA. Is it known that Senator Toomey releases nominations for all service academies at one time? Have not received anything one way or the other either.

I contacted my senator's office and they said they have already mailed out results by post, but the issue is I provided my old address as I don't live in the US atm (they told me to use my old address). Or can they send results any way they choose, so maybe they would not use email, and I would have to see the results of my nomination by checking the portal?

May be you already did this.

DD shared the below from Sen. Toomey's portal instructions.

"Please note that we will use the Mailing Address you provide to send all correspondence related to your application, including your interview notification. If you would like correspondence mailed to an alternate address, please contact our office at 610 434 1444."

Just heard back from my IL congressman about receiving another nomination for Navy, meaning that it’s the end of the line for Air Force since I didn’t receive a nomination (it was marked my 2nd choice on all applications). I’m pretty elated and hope that DODMERB can work through my stuff quickly to set me up for an appointment.

If you applied for the VP nom at USAFA, there is still a chance. Slim, yes, but it exists.

If you want USNA, then you are in decent shape with noms. Reassure us you applied for a VP nom there.

USNA may well have already evaluated your application. If they wish to offer you an appointment, they’ll be keeping an eye on your DoDMERB status. You’re competing against other fully qualified candidates on your slate for the appointment to be charged to the elected official. Of course, USNA can offer appointments to other fully qualified applicants on the slate, but the appointment is charged to other nom authorities they manage.
 
DS received a nomination from one of our Senator's this past week (zoom interview a few weeks ago). Congressman and second Senator conducted joint interviews last week. Well, our Congressman personally called him this afternoon to let him know he received a nomination from him, as well. It made his day to get that personal phone call! He's hoping to hear from the second Senator this week.

He now needs to wade through the medical waiver process, but at least this step has been checked off. ✅

I did apply for the VP Nom as well, it's just the waiting game for now. CIV team told me that DODMERB is getting forwarded my results early to mid next week so I'm holding out hope for being completely qualified before the end of the year. If I have a Senator and a Congressional nomination am I on a pretty good track for an appointment?

I have a two next to my senator's nom in my portal, but the nom I received is from my senior senator rather than my junior senator. Where did you hear this?

I wish I had a magic wand, crystal ball and Magic 8 Ball to predict chances for you. We just don’t know how fellow fully qualified nominees grade out in comparison to you.

Every year, there are more fully qualified candidates with noms than there are seats in the class. This is why you shut down those brain hamsters running amok thinking about this and focus on what you can control - tending alternate plans, doing well in school, enjoying family and friends, doing PT as stress relief.
