Hello All!

On the Navy Application, it asks us to list all our EC's. Do I mention the fact that I was accepted and attended other SA Summer Seminars? And if so, do I put that under the Other Activities list? Thank you.

Absolutely you should mention it. If that’s the best location for it, put it there. May not help, but doesn’t hurt.

If you went to any CVWs or Summer Stem, mention those too. I'm pretty sure it helped me more when it came to nominations/ BGO interviews but put them in there anyway.

I’m not sure how attending other service academy summer seminar equivalents or a CVW is an extracurricular activity. These are events you attended to gain more information about a service academy for yourself. USNA is not going to put any weight to these since they are all marketing type of events.

Mentioning the USNA summer seminar or CVW in the personal statement might be appropriate if you connect it to the prompt.

It doesn't hurt. As noted by usnabgo08, it likely does not count any 'points' on your whole person score. However, if you can cite some good success stories, teamwork, leadership, etc., that you experienced at the seminars during your interviews and in your essays, then the consistency found in multiple 'parts' of your record may very well contribute to your WPS in the long run. It is a point that I make with my students as they work through the process. Good luck with your application!

Has anyone else run into a limit in the amount of EC you can enter? After five entries for "Non-Athletic Activities", it would not accept any more for my DS, so he picked the 5 he thought were most important. Thanks all!

Yes and it also cut out some of the EC items when sent to the verifier. We’re pretty concerned about the accuracy of the application at this point.

The EC verifier can attach a document if they want. I had my school counselor attach a document with my resume that included all my ECs. You can also update your admissions counselor with any new awards/ programs you've gotten/participated in up until the deadline if you already submitted your application.

How does the EC verifier work. I saw you check a box but does that send the verifier an email or do we have to do it separately?

On the reccomendations part, there should be a Extracurricular Activities Official, you submit your counselor name through that!

Another question: For the last 3 days, when my DS goes to view his application, which is still open and not submitted, it shows it in an "onlineappprintview" when it opens. That is what the tab says.

You can't edit in this view or even submit. He has tried clearing all cookies, opening a different browser, signing out and signing back in, waiting a couple of days, etc. - but no change. We can't figure out how to get out of this view and back into the edit view. It appears that most of the data entered is still there, except for the EC section - that whole area is wiped out.

We I just wanted to see if it is a system issue before calling.

Thanks!

For DS his entire EC section disappeared after he submitted. His guidance counselor should have been sent a link for verification, but she's out until late July, so he can't check with her until later this summer about what she's seeing via the link. He emailed his admissions counselor.

Thats just it, my DS hasn't submitted his application yet. It still says "not submitted" and "open".

Thanks!

When my DS put in one of his recommenders in there was an entire list of other people already in it that he did not know. Like someone else’s information was crossing over. Now it say his list is too full and he can’t add anyone else. Very strange. Hopefully someone will get back to him soon.

One thing to immediately check is the correctness of the SSN being used by USNA as the original unique record identifier. All it takes is one reversed digit to turn him into someone else whose SSN is nearly the same. Could be an error on your son’s part, USNA, or other candidate’s, if this is the root cause.

Oddly enough, I ran into this many decades ago when I started receiving Medicare bills for things I had no involvement with, long before I was Medicare age. I had to go back to the SSA and get it straightened out. An older gentleman had submitted had applied for Medicare and reversed one of the digits in his SSN, changing it to mine. I was happy my employment earnings history wasn’t messed up, and the SSA quickly figured out what had happened. In my case, it was an honest error, not fraud.

Yes, I posted this morning with the same issue. It says "onlineappprintview" in the tab. DS sent an email to admissions asking about it.
