What a ride! 2C year well underway and one week from 2C Parents weekend. I was looking forward to sitting in a few classes with DS, but his Friday morning classes look like duds to me...Cyber, Leadership and Arabic. So now I will look forward to lunch in KH. No parade for us as DS has an excuse due to other obligations but then we have the game on Saturday! DW and I are now empty nesters so we can enjoy the pregame, game and post game as we please :). I am hoping to find time to go over and visit the NEX with DS to cross that off my USNA Bingo Card.

DS had a great trip to Dublin despite some travel delays and the Navy loss. It is an experince that will last him a lifetime.

DS learned he is a candidate for LASIK and is scheduled for October. He is excited for this to be done.

Enjoy the weekend...to my recollection, we did Parent's Weekend First Class Year. I think they moved it to 2nd Class year to give the 2nd Class something special after 2 for 7.,,,but the agenda is pretty much the same. You get the opportunity to see your Midshipman in their natural environment , without the drama of I Day or PPW. Have Fun ...and Beat whomeover Navy plays next weekend !

If they are doing a case study in Leadership, that can be fun to watch midshipmen work their way through those, figuring out how things go wrong, what went right, what was the impact of the shadow of the leader/how the leader creates a culture, lessons learned, etc.

Honestly, my favorite class 2/C weekend was Russian. It was fascinating. And leadership has been one of my son's favorite classes.

Last parade I went to (April) they had like 18 drop - the body snatchers were in full force and plum worn out afterwards. It wasn't even that hot yet. Can't imagine summer temp parade.

Son doesn't regret PRK, but it was painful to say the least.

Glad your kiddo got the Ireland experience. It's on my bucket list.

My favorite class was Greek. But then DS explained it was actually just a lesson about assembly language in Cyber. The food in KH was amazing for a Friday lunch with 4k friends in 20 minutes. DS taking us for a quick tour of B was neat, but rushed due to his class schedule.

It was easily our favorite trip to the academy.

It’s not so much the actual class, but seeing your child in that environment. And the caliber of instructors. Way impressive!! Don’t skip bc the class sounds boring. It won’t be. You will beam with pride that you child is involved in such dynamic education experiences!!

I can't wait either for our meal at KH! DS's beginning of 2/C year sounds just like yours @LT360 . I don't think we will make it to period one class as we're getting in midnight Thursday.

I'd highly recommend going at least one class. Some professors sometimes turn the class into a Q and A/show and tell for the parents. My dad really enjoyed my political methods (how to quantify political science) class and he got to ask a few questions during the lecture. A decent portion was dedicated to explaining what what political methods was to the parents

Best way to feel like your mid - underslept but getting things done. Roll out and enjoy the early-morning Yard. Treat yourself to a fat pill (pastry) and coffee at one of the Yard venues. It’s an entirely different feeling than PPW. Your mid is totally on top of how to navigate his life there now.

we are so excited for next weekend!! cant wait to go to her classes, lunch and the football game!! she has had covid the past week so she has been down big time in SIQ and just getting back to life on the yard today - said she had swim class this morning in full uniform and tread water for 15 mins - not easy to do with post covid feels!! looking forward to seeing all the 2C parents next weekend!!

We are flying in on Wednesday afternoon to enjoy the yard as much as possible 💕
Just spoke to DS and he said on Tuesday there were reports of a robbery at the NEX when he was nearby, so his group had to change course.
DS has an event Saturday afternoon that we will be attending so we won’t make the football 🏈 game festivities. Excited to attend classes 📚
For lunch at King Hall - DS said “prepare to be AMAZED!“ 😅

I’m so excited for you. I loved my 2/C experience. Every minute.

I’m so excited for you! I’m so sorry she has been sick. Mine messaged me tonight with fever, chills, horrid headache and no walk ins at BMU tomorrow.

That swim class is no joke.

Enjoy and keep us posted with your 2/C adventures. Where did the time go? Wasn’t it just last month that she was applying?

We were amazed that our Mid got ‘milked’. Is that what it’s called? Anyhow, we departed quickly so he could shower. Missed the dessert station 🙄

So sad to miss 2C Parent's Weekend! Had my trip planned out and my daughter has a sporting event, in Pennsylvania, leaving Friday at 11...

it does seem like yesterday we met on the forum and she was applying!! yes swim class is no joke - she had chest pains yesterday - went back to the dr this morning at 6 am - they did an EKG - thank god everything is ok with her heart - took a chest X-ray to check for pneumonia and waiting for a dr to read that I guess.........your son probably has covid - mine had the same exact symptoms and the dr said it is going around like crazy. I will say a prayer for him!

It is definitely going around the Annapolis area. I had jury duty back in July, picked up a mild case from the jury room population. Bad week, then a few exhausted weeks.

Found out it’s strep. Raging fever and chills. Getting meds tonight.
