2nd Scholarship Board Results published (2/8/17)

@MohawkArmyROTC

It still has Boarded. Does that mean our Chances for the 2nd. board are finished now? Do they update the site all at the same time or are they still updating?

I believe that all the updates have been made now. If you are still listed as boarded, then you will be up for the 3rd board.

My DD won a scholarship. How long she have to accept? I saw somewhere in a thread it's 30 days. If that's the case would it be 30 days from the date the winner packet is mailed out?

It is 30 days from the date on the letter. It will explicitly state the suspense on the winner's letter. So go ahead and accept one of the offers. If your daughter changes her school choice later, she can request to transfer the scholarship in April.

We were wondering the same. DD got her #1, #3 and #7 and of course her #2 has become her #1! Guess she is going to try and transfer scholarship to the #2 on list if she does not end up at academy.

Cadet Command tries to spread the scholarships around. Also, in some cases some of the school ROTC programs may not have selected Yes for a 3 or 4 yr scholarship for your child. Each ROTC program has to select whether they think the applicant would get accepeted to their school and whether you think they deserve a 3 or 4 year. If the school puts no, then an offer will be made for the next school on the list.

Could an applicant be upgraded from a three year to a four year if someone declines theirs or once an offer is made that is it? (I'm not talking about campus based scholarships)

question...My DS was a 3 year winner to 2 schools, both not our state schools. They were both in CO (we are in VA and he listed 2 public VA schools). Do they typically choose 2? It seems most have 3 on their list. He is ecstatic, don't get me wrong, this mom just wanted him a bit closer and I have no leverage now ;).

Yes, and it has happened in the past.

Generally speaking, 4YR winners get 3 offers, 3YR get 1-2 offers. Your son can accept one of the offers and request to transfer the scholarship to a VA school. There are instructions on how to request a transfer in the winner package that he will be receiving in the next week or so.

How many are expected to receive scholarships in the third board?

That depends on how many scholarships were accepted from the board. Historically, 800-1000 scholarships are offered by the 3rd board.

He can put in a transfer request for the scholarship if he would rather go to a different school. Just my opinion, but I don't think it's a good idea to push him to do this unless he really wants the other school. If he really likes the schools in CO, I would not push him to change just to be closer. I was in your shoes with both of my kids applying to some schools that were less than an hour away that we hoped they would choose - good schools too. Now they are both over 8 hours away by car or a short flight. It was tough at first for us and them, but they are both happy with their choices now.

I agree. I told him it was his choice and he has my support but I would love to keep him close (he's my 3rd to leave) He accepted the acceptance to the Colorado School of Mines last night and I am thrilled for him!

It becomes binding once the cadet signs the ROTC contract. If they are a 4 year winner, then they would contract this upcoming Fall 2017. If the have a 3 year, then they would contract in Fall 2018.
We know a young lady who was offered an ECP on this board, in reality does she have a shot on the third board. Also was this offered because she was not as competitive as other applicants and finally if she turns it down to gamble on the third board could it be offered again?

Those offered a 2YR ECP scholarship are projected to Fall below the 3/4 YR OML cut lines. If she turns down the ECP, it will not be offered again at the 3rd Board. She could be offered a 3YR after the third board, but it is probably not likely.

My daughter received a 4yr to her 2,3 and 4 schools but not her #1 school. She has also received a 3yr AFROTC. She wants to try to transfer her AROTC to her #1 school. Can she accept both scholarships so that if her transfer doesn't get approved she can go with the other branch?
