I am "under waiver review" for taking ADHD medicine for a couple of months during the first semester of my junior year of high school. I got off of it and performed the exact same (straight A's) the next semester as when I was on the medication. It has almost been a year since I have been off the medication and I am about to complete my second semester with straight A's in a row after getting off the medication. So in total, I would have 2 semesters of straight A's while being off of the medication, performing the exact same as when I was on the medication. Is this enough for me to receive the waiver and be qualified again? I wasn't even officially diagnosed with a learning disorder, I was simply given the medication as a precaution. Please help me figure this out. I have come too far to be medically disqualified for taking ADHD medicine a year ago. Thanks.

It’s hard to believe a doctor would prescribe ADHD medication as a “precaution.” These stimulants are serious controlled substances. I suspect there was an actual diagnosis. Regardless, it sounds like you don’t need the meds and I wish you the best of luck with your waiver.

I was only on the medication for 1 semester if even that. How can they disqualify me from having one semester on ADHD medication... especially when I have had a 4.0 gpa the other 5 semesters when not on the medication. I will most likely also have a 4.0 for my last 2 semesters. It's just sad that I might get DQ'd for something that didn't even help me.

I’m sure Deputy Chief Mullen will weigh in on what action you need to take in regard to a waiver. I think anyone on ADHD meds within a certain timeframe will get an automatic DQ. Didn’t mean to alarm you and I truly do wish you the best of luck.

Have you received official notification that a waiver has been requested on your behalf by USMA? That would be the first step. I recall sometimes the labeling/status codes in the system can be unclear so just confirming you've received that notification.
