99% sure I know the answer but I’ll ask anyway....DS is taking the February 9th ACT test, will USNA accept the scores even though the admission deadline will have passed on January 31st? Thanks.

I think its less an issue of whether USNA will "accept " the scores than whether they will arrive in time to be relevant. A candidate can always update information in the application, but at some point, the package is reviewed by the Admissions Board and subsequently by Noms & Appointments. The Admissions Board will have already reviewed many (if not most) of the applications by February 9, but updated ACTs would be relevant until Noms & Appointments reviews MOC slates.

They most likely will not update them for consideration during this application cycle.
Go ahead and send them if you so desire. There's certainly no harm in it.

Thanks and yes DS will send them, they might help for his Class of 2024 app!

From the USNA web site... aka the horses mouth
We will accept any ACT or SAT test that is taken before January 31, even if the results arrive after.

Consider whether it’s worth taking the test if it won’t be counted for this admissions cycle.

+1 to usna1985 but also keep backup college deadlines in mind. Taking the ACT in Feb could help there. But then I guess I state the obvious.

USMA admission deadline is February 28 so it is worth taking for DS. Plus the score can be used for USNA c/o 2024 application..

If there is a well thought out reason to take in Feb, absolutely do so. However, each time you take a standardized test, it takes most of a Saturday and costs a lot of money. If you haven’t actively done something to improve your scores, they’re not likely to go up much. B/c USNA superscores, some think it makes sense to take and retake and retake. But there is a cost and I think it makes sense to weigh that cost vs. the potential benefit.

It’s February. Is a slightly improved ACT score going to make a difference this year given the strength of the rest of your application?Only you can decide.

And I would wait to focus on 2024 once you see what happens this spring. There are plenty of opportunities to retake for that cycle.
