Hello,

I am planning in applying for the AFROTC scholarship soon. I will be taking the SAT in Dec. and will be planning to go to community college first because I prefer smaller colleges. I would also like to study aboard. Is there anyone who has done that while in the AFROTC program during college?

Use the search tab on this site you will find that many have done a semester abroad on how they went about it.

Many CCs offer ROTC. All you will do is travel to the host college for PT and LLAB. You will take your academic classes at your CC. I know many have done this, but beware the host college may not be very close. The reason why they opted to do this is because of 2 reasons.
1. They got to start as a C100 instead of when they transfer to their 4 yr college starting as a 250 if all of their credits transfer over as a sophomore.
2. Not every college is a host unit, so even if you transfer to another college that is a xtown, but part of that host unit, you will already know the cadre. You MIGHT be more competitive for an ICSP due to the relationships you have created during the yr. You can still apply for HSSP if you have less than 30 credits. If you choose to attend a school that is not part of that det., it also wouldn't hurt from a scholarship aspect because you can ask the CoC to do the AFROTC interview for your application.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks for responding. My host school is close to me so that won't be a problem.
