Has anyone heard anything on when firm EADs are supposed to come out? Mine says 30 Sep right now, but I was told that is essentially just a place filler.

I know a bunch of people who have 30 Sept as well but as you said, it's a placeholder. There's a spreadsheet sent out every month with updated EADs to every det across the nation. I had 30 Sept for a while before it got moved to mid April 2017 o_O w/ a class start date of early Sept 17. I'm pretty sure that's firm cause they assigned me a class start date. However, I talked to one of the NCO's here who said they would call the scheduler at my base to see if getting me in earlier is a possibility. No clue how it all works beyond that.

Mine says 30 Sep too as well as almost half of my class. I'm pretty sure it's a placeholder as I don't have a class start date or anything else. Mine originally said May 2017, but got bumped up. But one guy in my class actually got his orders already....his EAD is early June.

@Vretro what's your AFSC?

Early June!? Lucky. Hopefully that sticks! All of ours are April-June 2017.
Also pilot select- what about you all?

I'm space ops. I'm expecting it'll get moved up into the summer because I actually got contacted by my gaining squadron and they told me it's be mid-summer 2016. The later dates get me nervous. What are you planning on doing between commissioning and your EAD?

That's awesome, that was my #1 outside of rated. I have a few friends at Vandenberg, Beale & Peterson. Where will you be headed?
I have an engineering job lined up out of state- just going to work as much as I can to save up $. Thought about taking the starter loan and traveling but figured I'd be doing plenty of that. I took it and invested it. Might do some excursions here and there but nothing crazy. Plans for you?

I'm going to Peterson - I'm really excited about it. Plans for the summer are probably volunteering at a summer camp depending on when my EAD actually ends up being. I worked a bunch the last couple summers so I've saved up some money as a buffer.

Did anyone else see the "Immediate EAD" list that was sent out to some dets? I didn't see it from our det but it was sort of spread around and my AFSC was on that list of ones that they say are ready for immediate EAD. I'm just wondering what they mean by immediate, is that 1 week or 3 months.....

The immediate EAD email didn't seem to circulate around my Det NCOs but I know one of my FT friends go from a May 2017 EAD to EAD a week after his graduation. I also know one cadet that went from May 2017 EAD to a June 2016 EAD since she is in Weather. It looks like an immediate EAD for anyone that doesn't need to go to Tech school and a chance anyone else gets EAD by September.

The people that are already affected were in AFSCs that didn't need to go to tech school first (Weather and CE). I myself was told my EAD hasn't changed and neither did anyone else in my Det. My NCO's guess is that the changes for anyone else will occur after commissioning and during the summer IF anything happens. My NCOs say that there's a difference with what the Air Force says and what the Air Force does. Take the email with a grain of salt.

Are there any Intel people here? If so, what is you're EAD? Im going for intel this fall and i'm tryin to see what the pipeline looks like. If it's a few months after graduation then i can't plan for anything, but if it's a full year after graduation I'm considering applying for an educational delay and just starting grad school. Why not get my masters if I have a full year til training?

Just curious, but isn't it too late now to ask for an ED? Don't you have to be accepted by an approved Grad school at this point for ED, and get approval from HQ MPC? You are what 30 days away at tops from commissioning? They now have you in their ADAF pipeline from a report/class date perspective.

I would talk to your CoC about getting a deferment for ED, as in yesterday. Otherwise, I would find a job to survive for 6 months especially if you took student loans for college. That career starter loan impo should not be used as a way to pay bills while you wait to go ADAF.
~ DS reported Sept 30 to his 1st base. but it took time to get his paycheck in order. If memory serves me right it was @ 1 month, but meanwhile he had to pay on his own dime to get to the base, buy and set up his 1st place (food, linens, pots/pans, cable, etc). In essence it was a couple of thousand outlaid from his own pocket.

Just food for thought when you think about how you use that starter loan

Heard a lot of news that people with Flight Training that originally have Sep 30 EAD dates got pushed back. So it could go both ways!

Alpha,

UPT has been running at 110% for years now. Their EAD dates have been pushed back, along with class start dates. However, NonDucor is Intel. Two different worlds. flight training (UPT/UNT/RPA) is known for not only late RNLTD, but also casual status once you report.

My best advice is to pm Nick4060. He is Intel(class of 2012) ans give some insight from the inside.
