AFROTC Board #2

wow...surprised because they were so responsive with DD’s paperwork right before the 22nd...

Since most college decisions will be made by then, the scholarship recipients can’t even leverage their scholarship for admissions. wow.

Exactly! My DS has applied to Duke among others. I was hoping he could let admissions know that he had a scholarship in hand! That could make a difference in a highly selective school.

According to the Holmcenter portal, results will come out on Friday in the portal. To see that, click the “you’re eligible“ box. If you’re a service academy applicant as well, check your DODMERB portal before Friday. The day before I was notified of receiving an NROTC scholarship, I was deemed medically qualified for NROTC in the DODMERB portal.
They just changed it to March 30th

This is a significant delay. Unfortunate to receive the information so late in the process given that deadlines are May 1st. I wish they would have informed us sooner that there might be an adjustment in the schedule so we weren't planning round this release date. I realize covid complicates matters but these circumstances should no longer be a surprise. Well....see everyone back here in several weeks I guess.

Yup -- just checked my DS's portal and same message: March 30th. Yeehaw. Literally days before the schools my DS applied to will announce. Beautiful.

Current retention in the air force is better than expected so they might drop recruitment efforts.
This is correct, I am a current C/4C and they have informed us that we need to perform well to make it into field training because the bottom half of the class will likely not make it. Air Force is already top heavy and officers are not leaving as expected.

Does anyone have any info on how many commander's leadership scholarship recipients get the type 1 in the national hssp?
If you are trying to ask how many people who get the type 1 commanders scholarship from the college commander end up getting a type 1 in hssp, once you accept a commanders scholarship you are pulled out of the HSSP boards. Most commanders scholarships are usually given before the boards meet because if you see what scholarship you get first it can pull you away from going to that detachment. I was never able to see what I would of gotten, but I can assure you for me atleast I would not of get a type 1. a 1340 SAT with a 94 GPA with only 2 AP classes and no leadership activities. You may be able to find a statistic somewhere but most people probably got it before the HSSP results were out. Of the other 3 commander scholarship cadets at my detachment, 2 of them fit the bill for a type 1 pretty well but there's no way to tell if they would of gotten it in the HSSP.
