AIM Decisions

I would suggest your candidate head down to the baggage claim as soon as they land. That is where they will be met. There should be contact numbers in your information packet to keep the Academy informed if there are any flight delays or flight number changes.

Does anyone know if there’s a mask mandate going on right now for AIMsters? I haven’t seen any communication about it, but I am seeing a lot of photos posted on FB with cadets wearing masks.

On the Parents Assn board I saw reports of an increase in Covid cases so the campus is going back to masks in spaces where distancing is impractical.

I think the mandate started last weekend, around 3 July. A high number of swabs tested positive for covid. In addition, there has been other flu/sickness going around. Masking is now required indoors and is also required outdoors when social distancing is not possible. I believe the AIMsters are tested for covid on arrival. I don't know if overall covid testing is back on a set regular schedule for the cadets or not, but I know the swabs and cadre on campus were tested multiple times last week.

Does anyone know the schedule for"family day" on Friday? When should we arrive to campus, and where should we go for any ceremonies and to gather our AIMster? How do we get on campus, since it's essentially a military base? Are masks required? Vaccination cards?

All of this information is provided to parents via email. You will arrive Friday morning at your leisure, tour the place and got to an informative question and answer session. Then off to lunch then to the football field as you will see your kid for the first time in formation march out to the field. then off to the graduation ceremony. Grab your kid and be gone by 1:30PM. That about sums it up. Its a good time and you will enjoy. Getting onto the grounds of the academy requires an ID check at the designated gate. No mask required.

Check with your AIMster. My week 3 daughter just received an email this afternoon with all the instructions as well as a flier for Family Day events. There doesn't appear to be any covid restrictions for parents other than "don't attend if you're sick".

When you arrive in the morning there will be volunteers passing out schedules and giving directions. Prior to the morning information session, look for the admissions partners in the bright blue shirts. These are volunteers that support the admissions staff, and are all knowledgeable about the admissions process if you have any questions you'd like to ask one on one rather than in the group. Many of them have children that have attended the Academy so can answer questions on what it will be like for you if your child attends CGA. If you need assistance getting around campus, these volunteers will be able to give you a ride in a golf cart to the next location.

It is so well organized there is no room to make a mistake. Just be on time and follow the crowd. Honestly, it is one of the most organized military events you will see.😀

Virtual AIM: what to wear? My son does not own a suit. Does he need one for virtual AIM?
