I know it only closed a little over a week ago, but does anyone know when they will start letting applicants know if they were successful?

Does USCG do the CFA at AIM?

Yes, my son used his on his application. But you don't have to, you can retake it before you submit your app.

USCGA conducts the PFE (Physical Fitness Exam) not the CFA (Candidate Fitness Assessment). They are different tests. The PFE is administered at AIM, and those results can be included in your application for admission.

The PFE is subsequently administered during swab summer, and every semester during a cadet's 4 years at CGA. Information regarding the PFE can be found here: http://www.cga.edu/admissions2.aspx?id=80
