Hello all,
I submitted my USNA application a couple of weeks ago and I was wondering how my application is (competitive-wise) as most of you are experienced in the SA area.

I graduated HS in May, (taking a gap year due to some family things)
Graduated HS with an Associate of Science (cum laude) unweighted GPA of 3.74. Weighted GPA, 4.45
SAT score (not my strongest area) 1250 620 in math, and 630 in writing
and I have a whole bunch of leadership roles that I participated in in HS and also now. For example, I was a hockey coach all 4 years of high school as well as varsity hockey captain (senior year) for a boy's team (I'm a girl).

I am also a pacific islander and Hispanic and I grew up as a missionary kid as well as helping to take care of my special needs brother.
I was also invited to apply for the USNA Inspire program taking place next week where USNA pays for me and a parent to visit. And luckily I got accepted to this program. I have heard that some LOAs are given out during the Inspire program, but I am not 100% sure. Thank you so much all for reading! I would appreciate your feedback.

Your profile is interesting and has unique components. I would encourage you to visit via the inspire program.

No one here can gauge your chances. Too many variables.

You should take the SAT again (or maybe the ACT) and try to improve. Also, make sure you have leadership and activities for this year. It wouldn't hurt to take some Plebe level courses at your local community college.

I sense a lot of “Grit” in you … boys hockey, a girl showing boys how it’s done … now that’s real good.

NAVY likes grit too … if NAVY thinks you could use some more math and science, you could be a good candidate for NAPS.

One of my nieces was real gritty like that …. She played boy’s football until 9th grade in Northern Virginia … She was real small compared to the boys …. It was real funny when she ran down an opposing team’s tail back and horse collared him from behind … like Daryl Green running down Tony Dorsett … she was “real fast” …. She grew up eventing and taking care of horses too …. You don’t tell her much … she tells you.

How did you graduate high school with an associates degree?
My son earned his associate degree before he graduated high school. He participated in the CC graduation, but the actual certificate was given after the high school graduation.

Dual enrollment - taking the hardest classes in high school that qualify. My son also took a few classes from Syracuse University.

Every school should offer this imo. My son got 84 hours that plan b would have accepted.

I went through this program where I was dual enrolled in a highschool (although I never attended) and then I was full-time at a community college from a sophomore in highschool to a senior. It was a really good program as they paid for all of my classes

R Radar offers good advice. Re-take the SAT and try taking the ACT(some people get very different results between the two tests).

If you haven’t taken a study course for the ACT / SAT, its worth the time and investment (at least it was for my kids). If nothing else testing instruction and multiple reps eliminates much of the “drama” around taking either test.

You can significantly bump a score by studying the test itself, and how it works.

Best of luck to you.

DS high school offers dual credit but no where near the 60 hours it would take to earn an associates. Very cool.

Don’t be fooled…. @Dr. Strange Love ’s DD is gritty, too.

That intangible ‘it factor’.

OP the whole person is looked at. And if you need a little academic boost? As mentioned, NAPS/Foundation is a GREAT option that may be offered to you.

You have a unique story! Make sure and let all that be known in your BGO/MOC interviews.
