Aim, just remember that it's not all about academics at the service academies.
Bugsy's advice is right, but not for the reason I suspect s/he gave. Do search your heart and if you get an appointment, make sure a service academy is what you really want. Of course, you can't know everything before going in but understand that the life style of a cadet at a service academy is night-and-day different from a civilian college's student.
There are plenty of super-bright young people at America's service academies. I contend, as some others here may also, that these are the best kids in America. For all-around excellence, I can't think of a school that can match the caliber of student our service academies produce. Some may (and I do say MAY) have better test scores, but I can't think of one civilian college that produces the technologically savvy, the athletically fit, the leaders, that America's service academies produce.
