Folks is there any reliable data out there that reveals any of the following information:

Average number of service academy applicants for a specific state per year (in my case SC)?
Average number of service academy appointees for a specific state per year (again SC)?

Also, how many nominees does an MOC get? Is it so many per SA in a calendar year? So many in total? I'd assume all MOCs get the same number of nominees?

Finally, speaking of MOC nominations only, am I correct in understanding that it would be possible to be nominated by 3 MOCs (2 senators for your state; 1 district representative)? Hypothetically, can all 3 MOCs nominate the same applicant to the same SA or SAs?

I can only answer the last half of your post. MOC can only have 5 people at a service academy at a time so when they have open spots they can nominate up to ten people for that one spot. You can be nominated by all MOC.

I have not seen USNA publicly release numbers per state like this. I would highly recommend you read the nomination stickies to get a understanding of the type of noms and how many your MOC can nominate and have at a SA.

Also never seen this data. Other than it may be interesting, I'm not sure how it's relevant. Knowing that 10% or 80% of applicants ultimately received appointments has no bearing on whether you will or won't. Also, please understand that the term "applicant" is a complex term when it comes to SAs. Applicants include those who open an application and never complete any portion of it to those who are fully qualified with noms. And everything in between.

For example, say there are 100 applicants from a state, meaning 100 people opened an application. Maybe 60 of those completed some portion of their application, 30 of whom completed all of their application, 20 of whom are 3Q, 15 of those who have a nom . . .

There are 100 applicants, but only 30 who have any chance (including for NAPS/Foundation) and 15 of whom have a real shot at a direct appointment.

Please read the excellent stickies that top the USNA threads. Other than the state stats, you’re asking very basic questions which are very well addressed on those stickies.

The only place I’ve seen State numbers is in College Factual. Not sure how accurate it is. Probably has some old data that is an average over a few years. However, it does give a ballpark of how many per State. It shows CA, MD, TX with the most at NA....not surprising.

I am from Guam. My BGO told me that there were no offer of appointment from Guam last year. I am the first one from Guam who received an offer of appointment this year for Class of 2023. It's very rare for us from Guam to receive an offer from USNA.

If the spots aren’t used, then they aren’t used. It means a MOC could submit an extra slate the next year. USNA has a target goal each year. They would round out the class from
the NWL.
