Applying to USMMA

Be sure to take calculus (ap if possible). USMMA should go ahead and tell applicants it is required for admissions instead of preferred based on feedback I am learning.
My DS was offered an appointment and he has only taken Pre-calc....Not that it is a bad idea to take it, but in at least my DS's case it wasn't required. (He didn't have any other grade hurdles to get over, like the OPs D in Chemistry though, so I am sure that helped.)

Well, the world has changed much since I started at KP in the late 70s, but I didn't take any calculus during high school. I could have gone to the local community college during my senior year, but opted out. Now, I do have a head for math (or did). For the first four quarters of calc, I did very well. It was that last (fifth) quarter that began getting into differential equations that really put the whammy on me. Never happier with a C+ in my life. I would say that if you have the opportunity to take calculus, do so by all means. There were some other classes that I took in high school (mechanical drawing comes to mind) that most of my classmates did not take, and knowing a subject allowed me to concentrate on those that I didn't and also allowed me time to attend to more mundane things like shining shoes and belt buckles, memorizing Plebe Knowledge. . . . .
