Appointment waves class of 2022

@Teragram So...what is the AOG ROTC nomination? Is that a pathway to noms for AOG scholarship holders? This is such a stressful time of year. At least the kids are busy with school and sports. I guess when they have news they will share it.
MMI has AROTC and all the AOG's are enrolled, thus making them eligible for a Senior ROTC nomination for USMA. So yes, it is another pathway for them to be appointed. They had a 5 mile ruck this morning and last night as she was packing and talking to me she mentioned, "oh by the way there is a ROTC nomination in my portal". :) I will take what I can get at this point regarding information.
I forgot about the ruck run this morning. No wonder I have not heard from him today! Hope they are enjoying themselves.. LOL.. I do not understand why they are still in the dark. I had been told AOG’s were at the top of the list since they were 3Q already..

I think the wait is due to the change in visit from admissions. If it had happened this past Wednesday the wait may have ended :(

They are on top of the list for an appointment but the wait is really how they will slot them. They just need a nomination but they could be charged a few places. If they were to win a MOC slate, that would be an extra slot admissions could use for a special diversity candidate as an Additional Appointee as an example. We lived through the wait for two years so I understand that stress but AOG sponsored candidates basically have a guarantee as long as they perform. It will be a joyous occasion soon.

Correct me if I am wrong but the way I understand it is that they (AOG)need to get an MOC nomination but they would not actually count against that MOC’s slate.

They don't have to have a MOC nom, they could have a ROTC or VP or Secretary of Army but MOC is "preferred" from what RC explained last year.

The nomination can come from anywhere to be admitted. They can be eligible for other noms and allow admissions to move stuff around. The slotting is irrelevant to the applicant but it allows admission more flexibility with other candidates.

For those with a recent appointment, have your "Instructions for those applicants offered admission" become available yet? I'm wondering if they get "turned on" individually based on documents submitted or if the just aren't ready for the class of 2022 yet. Thanks

I have submitted every document that I could possibly submit thus far (only birth certificate, tattoo form, and fingerprints at this point) and my instructions are not available. I don’t know when they come out.

Things to do/Packets come out in waves. You have to keep checking the portal...just like old times. If your parents join the West Point Class of 2022 Facebook page, the Parent Liaison will notify them when a Packet is being released. Remember it is a marathon--and most of your class has not been offered an appointment yet--so the request for information tend to come out more slowly than you might think.

Our DS is a self prep at MMI and got his appointment this past Sunday. A beautiful thick packet arrived today. Very exciting!!!
How did he find out? Portal update or MOC call? Or something else? What awesome news for you guys!

Congratulations! I think I remember from last year that your DS was offered an AOG spot? Did he turn it down and then end up self prepping? If I'm mixing you up with some else I apologize, so many posts to recall! Any way enjoy the good news.

You might be mixing him up with someone else, but he initially was asked if he would be interested in an AOG but it never came to fruition.

Ok maybe that was it...I remember he was approached with AOG at some point. Congratulations again!

Congratulations!! Looking forward to all the new parents joining us on the parental journey at WP and all the young men and women joining the Corp!!!

In the past have AOG's received their appointments as a group? If not does anyone know if they typically find out through their MOC's or some other way?

Wondering this also...would seem they would give the MOC an opportunity to contact them if they have congressional or senatorial nomination, but would love to know from someone with experience :)

Just a quick question? DS received congressman call on Thursday 01/25, portal updated on 02/27, does anyone know when the BFE would come, he eagerly awaiting its arrival?
