April: and you are still waiting...

Deposite is sent. DD will be a 2nd Lutenant in the Army in 2022 in either case and is excited to start this journey, whichever way it turns out! The info and advice received on these forums was priceless! I will be sure to contribute for years to come no matter what path she takes. Plan 1A is ROTC 4 year scholarship. Already visited and loves the school. Go Army!

Sending you all good vibes. Did you send your deposit to your other great school while you wait it out?
OK, so Monday is May 1 and still no updated portal, no correspondence at all. Will her portal ever update? What could possibly be taking so long? Don’t they have to let all that candidates know by May 1?

Dear @2022USMAHopefuldad ...Tuesday is May 1st. They do have to let her know...I just don't know what day they are supposed to let her know. If you look at the graphic provided on the USMA admissions website, it shows that students are accepted through early-May. Let me find the link:
https://www.usma.edu/admissions/Shared Documents/Admissions Timeline.pdf

I know that you have seen that graph a hundred times and spent time thinking, "How can they go until early May?" and "This is torture."
I was surprised that no one posted to the acceptance thread last week--I thought there would be a few last minute posts.

The issue remains the same, you simply do not know until you get notification. You all are still in the waiting room. Make the deposit for that other great plan. Plan on potentially losing that $300--and having to live with yourselves. Do not allow a late notification to make the decision for your girl. She should still have to sit quietly, search her soul, and decide what she wants to do if the phone rings or the BFE arrives on the doorstep.

I am sorry you all are having such a lengthy wait.

Thank You DrMom for your reply. Sorry for my date/day error . I appreciate all the info received in this forum. The waiting has become more difficult as time goes on. I spoke with DD last night and she is set on option B and has committed to her ROTC option. She will be Less than 2hrs from home. I want to wish everyone nothing but the best and look forward to watching her serve alongside of such talented and top notch young men and women! God bless them all! It sure is comforting having the best and the britest defending our great nation!!

Received official word of my appointment to USMA on May 1, 2018! Happiest day of my life! Recruited athlete, 2 noms with waiver requested since January. There is still hope if you are STILL waiting.
What is your sport?

Still no word. May 7. Contacted FFR. He’s reaching out to admissions. Just want to know now for peace of mind..... don’t know that it will make any difference at all in DD’s mind but after all that she has done through this process we just want to know.....

I saw that somebody just heard on May 5 on the appointment thread! I think it is good to keep an open mind if an appt comes this late. I realize the dissapointment for not hearing sooner but I know people that have heard even later and are now about to graduate. My daughter did self prep after not hearing last year and feels it was the best thing that could’ve happened to her. She is extremely excited to be selected for the class of 2022.

@DDmom and @2022USMAHopefuldad . You all are right, it is now 7 May and kids are still out there waiting--having certainly accepted their ROTC scholarships and another great school. It is hard to believe that people still don't know. We have to harken back to the graph that shows letters of appointment going out early into May. (I saw the 5 May appointment on the thread, too--and thought--there is still action and still hope.)
Best wishes to all who are still waiting.

Thank you all for all of the info and thoughtful/helpful posts. Update, DD received an offer to USMAPS. We were in contact with her FFR and RC and were informed yesterday. So now she has some decision making to do.....I’m going to post in a new thread because we sincerely would like some advice/info specific to her situation in hopes it can help her make the choice that is best for her. She knows no one can make that decision for her but having as much info / other peoples experiences will help. These forums have been tremendously helpful on this journey so far ! Thanks again!

UPDATE:
DD accepted her appointment to the class of 2019 USMAPS. After some soul searching she came to the conclusion that the USMA is what she set out to do all along and that, while a great 1A plan, Nursing (through ROTC) wasn't a primary goal and as many have said she can accomplish this later if she so chooses. The primary goal was USMA and serving this great nation. Just took her a little while to hash this all out. GO ARMY!! So proud of her I can't even put it into words!

You and her mother were gracious and good parents to give her the time she needed to make her own decision. Congratulations. Go Army!
