Are glasses needed?

I know prior to getting your eyes evaluated for DoDMERB they require you to go without contacts for at least 2 days prior; however, I do not possess a "good" pair (correct my vision to 20/20) of glasses and was wondering if this would prove a problem during my examination. Essentially, do they use a phoropter to determine if you're correctable to 20/20 (or better) or do they just rely on your glasses and a wall chart?

Good question, I have my exam tomorrow and my glasses may or may not be fixed by then. Anyone have an answer to this?

Somewhere on this forum it states the reason why is due to the fact that contacts change the shape of your eyes. If you do a search you will be able to find the exact reason.

Ds is in same situation, since going to contacts full time a couple years ago, I stopped purchasing new glasses each year so his are an old prescription. He called the office where he was getting the exam and they told him this wasn't a problem. Day of exam he told the doc they weren't a current prescription, she said no problem and didn't use them. You just need to have not worn the contacts for three days...the prescription of your glasses doesn't matter. But you can call the office where you are getting your exam to double check.

Glasses

Hopefully im not too late to help today when i went they did a vision screening with corrective lenses provided in the circular eye thing so glasses arent needed
