Are Masks coming back?

I keep saying that I shouldn't keep saying that I haven't been sick in three and a half years. No cold, no flu, no COVID, no viral syndrome of any kind.

However, I'm not taking any chances. I work in a Petri dish and think there's a possibility that asymptomatic carriers is a thing with this virus. I've complained about the school board's mask decision but they had no choice.

Remember at the outset of the pandemic the guidance was: wash your hands, wipe down all groceries coming into the house, wipe down all surfaces a hundred times a day. Then those in white coats and pocket protectors said that COVID-19 had a slim chance of being transmitted by fomite. It's obviously a good idea to wash hands and wipe down surfaces occasionally but individual common sense should apply here.

If it doesn't look, sound, or smell right, then walk away. If the local Shoppers grocery manager puts out a "Wear your mask" sign then I will. My sister a couple days ago said, "I'm done with masks. I ain't never gone wear one again." She lives on Meth Mountain and her husband hasn't worked in forever due to health problems. Oh, and she has custody of her two grand daughters because their mother is a meth head and a criminal. Yeah, go ahead and protest the mask mandates and get your family sick but I won't be at the funerals.

And this is why there is so much surrounding all of this. It’s such a multilayered onion! So many angles. Opinions. Parts and pieces. Tentacles. There is no one SINGLE defined, correct answer. Classic catch 22. Dammed if you do. Dammed if your Dont.

I’m just sad. Never thought we would be here when, last spring, all the Mids stood in line for their Vax. It’s depressing to me today.

And yes, people are mean. And this whole thing is making them meaner. I have lost a really good friend. Somone who couldn’t accept my discussion. Had to be RIGHT and I was WRONG. And since I didn’t agree, I was evil. And honestly? I 100 pct AVOID discussion about COVID and politics. I am far from evil. But that’s what is happening. And it’s so sad.

I 100 pct AVOID discussion about COVID and politics.
And let's be honest... The arguing is all about politics, not Covid. Last year, the people who didn't trust the vaccine are now the same people calling others stupid and selfish for not getting vaccinated. The complete opposite arguments come from the other political side. The only thing that changed is who is working in the Oval Office. I have never seen arguing like this over the Flu vaccine. My comments are not about the vaccine itself. They are about the arguing, name calling, shaming, insulting, hatred........

Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie, and Arguing (has replaced Chevrolet).

It's all about division, apparently. These days if you think one way, half the population hates you for it. I mean hates you for it.
It seems to be the new national sport. I believe that the blame is on all of us, and it's decidedly un-American.

Clearly, people aren't enjoying crispy bacon enough.

Now if bacon were a known anti-viral…

Yes, the nastiness, the violence, the meanness, the vitriol (got to trot that word out at last), the pigheadedness on all sides - ugh.

I read where cannabis helps fight covid. So there is that.

Studies show bacon helps fight Alzheimer’s. So people should eat moderate amounts of bacon for other benefits. It can’t hurt Covid.

USMMA brought back mask mandate today.
I believe USMMA tends to comply more with state regulations than the DOD Service Academies. I actually had a conversation with the USMMA Superintendent about that issue. So hopefully the DOD SA's wont mask up unless absolutely necessary. Time will tell.

Swabs at the CGA were in photos wearing masks at the indoor strength and conditioning center and a parent posted this notice on the parents FB page. So yes, masks are coming back, I'd say.

It doesn't really boil down to politics, but rather whether you choose to believe in actual and demonstrated science, and irrefutable numbers.

For example, Governor Mike DeWine (R) of Ohio is about as far away from "liberal" generally as one can get, yet here is what he said on Monday:

Gov. DeWine said 16,924 people hospitalized since January had not been vaccinated while only 205 hospitalized were vaccinated. As for deaths, the governor said 6,812 were unvaccinated while only 34 were vaccinated.

DeWine called the numbers "absolutely stunning."

"If you want to stay out of the hospital, get the vaccine," the governor said.

DeWine further urged parents to vaccinate their children who are eligible before the school year starts. He also urged that children who are not vaccinated should wear masks for protection.

There were people for many years that believed that the Earth was indeed flat, and that sea monsters lived at the edge of those flat earth maps.

People will believe what they will believe.

I have reviewed the data on CDC. People under 39 - there have been less than 10,000 covid deaths - similar to flu and pneumonia. And that is assuming the covid positive tests were accurate.

Less than 1% of those hospitalized with covid and one or zero comorbidity died.

Science would lead me to believe that we should vaccinate the people with two or more comorbitities.

The science on masks is inconclusive. Fauci himself has wavered repeatedly on this very issue.

Gov. Ivey makes Gov. DeWine look like Al Gore

whew, I'm good.

I am not on any side of this issue and simply don't know who to believe. But at the moment 65% of my fortune 500 companies employees are refusing the vaccine. And are very defiant about it. It is my job to administer and analyze the surveys. From what I can gather is most feel we are being lied to over and over and simply do not trust anything the media, the politicians and the CDC, Etc. have to say about it. Our owners and senior leadership have been pushing the vaccine incessantly like nothing I have seen before. The feeling is that it is about to become mandatory. Most people don't want to lose their jobs and are unsure what they will do. People I survey keep saying to me why are they doing this? That is the most common response to me. Most are not scared of the virus itself. It is about to become very interesting. The military is one thing but the private sector is another. The pressure our owners are under is immense.
