Are Masks coming back?

Arizona currently outlaws mask mandates...

We'll see how long it lasts; the Tucson mayor ordered masks in all buildings today...expecting a lawsuit to challenge the law.
Well the Tucson mayor is not paying attention to real data.

I've written here before, I'm a huge vaxx guy. Given 10's of thousands and received hundreds.

Also a huge personal freedom believer. Also however, a believer in the government's responsibility in a public health crisis.

Yes, one should have the choice to not receive the vaccine but private companies for sure have the right to require masks, or shoes and shirts, sorry Chesney, in their place of business. The government's legal authority to mandate the vaccination of federal employees will be challenged by the strong union those employees enjoy. I'm intimately familiar with the military's authority to require immunizations to its personnel.

Let's say the government, any level, doesn't take steps to protect the public in matters such as fire or police services, then the citizenry would and should go bananas. If for instance the virus continues to flourish and businesses and schools close again, everybody will be up-in-arms about it.

I hate wearing a face covering even though I wore it in my medical duties for 2.5 decades. The Delta variant and the one coming behind it is no joke.

The summer surge of virus transmission and the slow down in the vaccination rate has put us in this situation. I saw an interview of a drug salesman, I mean the CEO of Pfizer, who said his vaccine goes from 95 to 86 percent efficacy in six months and a booster will be needed. Eighty-six percent is a bunch better than the annual flu shot can do but what is the efficacy at one year? We don't know yet. I got my second Pfizer dose in February and surely don't want to be on a ventilator in ICU this Christmas.

My org just officially announced that the masks are, again, mandatory. I took it in stride, and ran out to buy more generic masks and Trident peppermint gum.

I love garlic way too much, to go around...masked up...without my Trident.

It's not any worse than the chem gear I lugged around for 20+ years...and no charcoal staining, either!

I get the frustration. I totally understand the differing opinions. I, absolutely, support a person's right to believe what they wish.

For me...personally...there are far more important things to worry about and focus on than whether or not I have to cover my nose and mouth while in the office. I'm only there 8x a month, anyway!!! 😁

If this is what we are going to get from you Doc, you damn well better stick around! I wish I could have said it this well!!

Has anyone been following the nasty “shaming” stories in Australia? Human beings. We can be great and inspiring and full of advanced human thought and actions. And then we are can be complete and unwitting Not That while believing others who don’t agree with us are Not That, because we have this need to be right.

I don’t know what’s right here. There are enough “facts” from every source and talking head to create a haze of confusion over the battlefield. I don’t need to be right. I loathe the politicization of this.

I need to not get any version or mutation of this that will send me to the ICU and make me unable to be there for my DH, who is 15 years older than I. I do not wish to lose him when he should have another 20 years on the planet. We are both healthy and extremely active people, but are in the demographic where hundreds of thousands have died. We have lost too many friends and relatives to this. I will cheerfully wear a mask and take other actions if that contributes in any way to me not giving the virus another body to jump into and a chance to mutate again, if I happen to be asymptomatic and carrying a viral load, or to increase the chances of not giving the virus another place to go in my own body. I have asthma and had no problems doing heavy cardio with a mask on; I just decided it was a bit uncomfortable but doable, and powered through.

If only the virus brought with it side effects of increased civility, kindness and openness to others’ viewpoints…

Ivermectin was disallowed early on because it was untested. Now studies show countries that used it found success.

Now it’s possible that the vaccinated potentially spread the disease. And the vaccinated are getting covid.

Should people with natural immunity need a mask or the vaccine? I would like to see the real science on this.

Add to it the huge positives might be overstated from faulty tests, which have been taken off the market.

I want to understand why any countries are performing gain of function on viruses. It was man made.

I didn’t get vaccinated. About ten of my close relatives got covid. Only one brother was in the hospital and we thought he wouldn’t make it. About half of my relatives got the vaccine, including my son and daughter.

I won’t get the vaccine. I will continue to take vitamins and nutrients for my immune health and use a mask based on my circumstances. Not because my governor mandates it.

Per who or what news source? My kid in the AF says it isn't a problem with the people he works with.
Mine got Covid last year at SERE school...along with 90 others out of 105 students, cadre and instructors. Many of the DOD protocols ran/run the gamut of silly to contradictory. Example: DS Ranger School graduation was at the end of May. Only vaccinated graduates were allowed to invite a maximum of 2 vaccinated guests. Therefore, DS could not invite his vaccinated parents even though he had Covid.

His attitude (and ours) is so what. This isn't the dumbest thing he's experienced since he first showed up for ROTC orientation. Besides, this is a public health issue. We still went and watched from across the lake with a bunch of others in the same situation. There was a lot of very good natured commiseration.

One can only imagine what President Eisenhower would say about Polio anti-vaxxers had there been social media back in the day.

So glad you came back.

Polio was around for hundreds to thousands of years. It took Salk 7 years to develop his vaccine. I imagine if it was rushed out early on, there would have been hesitation.

We still don’t know the efficacy or danger of the Covid vaccines. There seems to be different opinions by scientists.

Yes, with the best technology that was available at the time.

It is a story that began three decades ago...
