Army ROTC 2023-2024 2nd Board

Hi! A ROO just emailed my son that the results will be delayed and to just keep checking back every day.

"insert the jeopardy theme into this thread."

My DS never contacted and talked with ROOs at schools he was accepted. Did you mean he should be reached by one of ROOs from schools if he gets award scholarship?
My son never communicated with the schools he placed on his list. After he was awarded the scholarship, they all reached out to him by email.

As another poster wrote, ROTC Command needs to address the antiquated nature of the application portal. My son must have asked me 3 different times why the system was so poorly designed. If they want to attract the best candidates spend some money and get the portal out of the 1990s.
Judging from how well the new FAFSA rollout is going, I'm not sure I want any more "improvements" completed until my DS has moved through the system.

That's gub-mint work for ya!

Just got an email from one of my top 3 asking if they could share my scholarship results with the college once they are released, I doubt he knows anything though. 🤷‍♂️

But why would they ask that if they didn't feel pretty confident you are getting a scholarship offer?

If you are still waiting for an admission decision from that school, I would imagine having the scholarship attached to your name won't hurt!

The ROTC program at the school would probably love to have the applicant but they need the School to offer admission....

Exactly. The cadre must be pretty confident the student is getting an ROTC scholarship offer, or why else would they be asking @MylkNCookies for permission to share the news with the school?

I actually already got accepted with the school, so its odd, I don't see why they would need to share it. None the less I allowed them to.

Remember that the PMS, their staff including ROOs know exactly what type of resume will win a scholarship. They have seen this every year. If they think the applicant is a sure thing it would make sense for them to notify the school's admission office.

My kingdom for an ROTC & SA version of the common app…

I have been told that winning the scholarship doesn't influence the school's admissions process but I find that hard to believe.

THAT is a great idea!

ONE application that gathers all necessary info, essays, etc. Plus, ONE medical screen/approval process.

Then, you simply check the boxes on the application for what programs you want to be considered for -- various academies and/or ROTC programs.

But it makes too much sense for everyone. So, it'll never happen.
