Army ROTC 3rd Board Results...

There is less money moving forward. So little we can’t pay this year’s scholarships to the schools. They’ll find it, but we expect fewer and fewer campus based scholarships.

so students need to figure out other ways to pay. SMP non-scholarship in states that either cover tuition for guardsmen or grant instate to guardsmen (Montana is passing a law like this).
So if im reading this right they offered no where near 2,800 scholarships this board and instead upgraded others? Why would they have less money? Spending it elsewhere. Are they ultimately moving to getting rid of this scholarship with less campus based scholarships??

Also why all of sudden are there way less campus scholarships? just due to the fact they upgraded 250 more people?

@hrtly - I think the total number of scholarships this year will be in-line with years past. I have no idea about the financial allocation this year compared to last year. If there is a delta it may be attributed to the ebb and flow of dollars that typically occurs during an administration change. There are many other options to pursue a commission. Marathon not a sprint.

These are good and fair questions, and I'm sorry that few if anyone who posts here have the answers. If I may step "out of my lane" momentarily (although not really since I'm a taxpayer), for reasons that I don't understand it seems to me that none of the services do a particularly good job publishing data regarding ROTC scholarships. Interestingly, they do for the SAs, but in my experience not nearly to the same degree for ROTC. I don't understand this mindset, but it seems more or less uniform among all the services. Ironically, I think the secrecy (if that's the right word) hurts them with recruiting.

Well, off my soapbox. Good luck to you.

thanks for the reply, just trying to get a better understanding of the process and change.

I agree, all I have been wanting since starting the process was more information to make more informed decisions on plan B and such like that. SA's are way more uniform like you said in terms of that. If they provided more info on # of available, and etc. it would definitely help everyone in terms of planning during a chaotic part of life. Anyways, thanks for the input.

But like someone said above, with new changes and less money for the scholarships I would assume it wont happen ever. But dreams can be dreams.

They can’t. USMA is a set cost and is known.
ROTC
Kid A is choosing between Harvard which is a high price school and is in state at Montana State which is cheap.
1 scholarship but $ difference is $100k

how do you budget that before kids commit to schools?

So the national process gets the “best” and then its easier to budget campus based once the national winners are set at school. And campus based gets the remaining $s

Also, its well known that Army ROTC is the nations largest scholarship source at $300 million per year.

The Army hasn’t rolled out new large equipment in decades. We are fighting 1970s designed equipment. So to modernize it takes money. And current readiness must be maintained. $ comes from some where

I had an issue yesterday but could access my sons application status this morning. I have to assume he may not have made the 3rd Board cut and have to look at executing other plans. Does anyone else here have a Navy ROTC Application pending? Thanks in advance and congratulations to all who received scholarships, best of luck and thanks for your Patriotism!

First-time poster, thanks to you all for the information you provide here, especially the recruiters and AROTC coordinators.

What happens to the slots of winners who turn down offers in the next 30 days or so? Or when winners are no-shows or get disqualified before classes begin, i.e., medical condition, debilitating substantive injury, urinalysis, criminal conviction.

I believe @Montana State Army ROTC said the scholarship is gone. Like the money is moved elsewhere. Don't quote me though.

The Army factors this in to their awards. Scholarships that are declined are not re-awarded. The funds would be reallocated to other programs, mainly campus based scholarships.

Thank you very much. Someone posted that all notifications have gone out, but another posted that applicant/s called school/s on Friday and were told that they have not yet gotten any notifications...grain of salt...

So will portals, in the next few days, go from B/UC to "thanks, try again next time" status?
