The 2nd Scholarship board has been pushed back to 29 JAN 18 in case of a government shutdown.

I remember back in 2010 when they had a government shutdown. The boards were all messed up and the results from the second board did not come out for months. I think the thread for that board still holds close to the record for the most posts, it was a painful wait. I hope that’s avoided this year.

Thanks for the update....grrrrr. Question though: my son received his latest transcript after the doc submission deadline for the second board. He applied on the first board, but maxed out his GPA the past semester and would like to submit that. Is the doc deadline pushed back as well? I assume not, but thought I'd ask.

Since he was already boarded, he will not be boarded again, but will be on the list. I think you can submit any update in test scores but not sure about GPA.

Yes the doc deadline was been pushed back a week.

When is the very earliest date when offers might start appearing? I want to know when to ask DS to start checking his inbox every microsecond.

Thanks in advance.

Is there any clarification to the "Boarded/Under Consideration - not selected" status that many are seeing today? The wording (although not clear if it was for the first board or the second) indicates that with that status the applicant will be considered for "future" (meaning the third?) boards?

My HOPE is that everyone who was already boarded in the first round has switched to this and everyone who was board ready will switch to boarded.. After the first board results taking 2 weeks, I'm having a hard time convincing myself that decisions have be made and posted after just 2 days..

Again, my HOPE!

You misremember. There wasn’t a shutdown in 2010. It was the 2013. The one before that was 1995-96.

You are correct, thanks for catching that.

What I meant to refer to was the Debt Ceiling Crisis that started in 2010 and was finally resolved in 2011. During this time Cadet Command held back notifications of scholarship from the second board in Jan. 2011 for several months. The stress on those waiting was terrible, some had to commit to schools prior to any notification. The Army would not commit to or award any scholarships until this was all resolved, it was a mess. The notifications drug on all the way through the third board which resulted in that board's results being pushed back. Some applicants simply dropped out of the process and enlisted to take part in SMP/ROTC so they could commit to a school.

I was relieved applicants did not have to go through that this year. Of course the next deadline is fast approaching so I guess we could be right back in the same mess. I hope they release results before the deadline gets close.

YAY! DS received 3 year as well! Crazy but it only lists 3 out of state schools, nothing in state.
