AROTC 3rd Board...Place to Wait

The people at CC will be heading home here soon, if they don't change statuses today then I'll admit, I have absolutely no idea when y'all will hear.

If you could answer that question you would win the Nobel Prize.

Think of this as a training opportunity. Here is a short list of the things that will happen long after the expected date as you progress through ROTC.

Book Money
Room & Board if you select that option (This one can take forever)
CULP notification and assignments
Summer training slots
CIET assignments
CLC assignments
Branches
BOLC Dates
Duty Stations

These are just a few and they will never happen on the dates they first say they will. You will be back on this board wondering when you'll find out with everyone else, and Yes, you'll be just as frustrated as you are now.

The only thing you will know in advance and on time is the date you graduate and commission.

Then the real fun begins, because once you finally start your time in the big Army you'll find that it doesn't change much, everything will still be delayed and you'll be waiting again. At least now you'll be getting paid to wait.

I wish I could say you'll get used to it, but it will still be frustrating and you'll still complain. All I can say is welcome to the Military.

All the above said.....I'd still do it all again.
 
DS is walking on eggshells! Thank goodness he has a paper to write this weekend. Hopefully he can get his mind on that.
 
All kidding aside, the challenge is some of the schools are looking for deposits and other logistics are in the works while this final board review is pending. It has less to do with patience and more so that we need to start making firm commitments. Looks like next week but this is really getting close.

Are most deposits non refundable? Because all of mine were, so we just said we would claim back the deposits from wherever I decide not to go... I guess that isn't the case?

Correct.....1 of the 3 is non-refundable, they want summer housing deposits with potential issues if much more time passes, and just allowing the family to focus on one school would be nice too...

Depends on where you live. When I lived up north my experience was almost no one had a holiday on Good Friday. When I moved to the southeast I found almost everyone has a holiday on Good Friday.
 
Well over here in South Africa pretty much the entire country came to a stand still yesterday...

Not really, no. There's a couple thousand miles between here and there, and quite frankly, no one talks about it. I just meant about it being good Friday. Some places come to a halt, and some keep going as if it doesn't exist.

I would assume that over here it has more to do with what the colonialists set up 100+ years ago, but in the states I have no idea what would cause it.
