AROTC Accessions coming soon....?

Just passing along some info for those interested but have no knowledge of it's validity...

My son's unit has been told that they will be told on September 9th whether they will be going Active Duty or Reserve/NG. That sort of makes sense because I remember reading in the Spring that they wanted to give the December grads going Reserve/NG time to find a home. They have been told Branching assignments will be done in November...
 
I'm really glad to see that CC has gone back to the old process of releasing the Component selection first before branching. Not only will this give time for those forced Reserve to find civilian employment, it will give them time to find a unit that has openings for the branch they want. Last years process had way to much stress put on the cadets.

That being said, I will be shocked if CC actually makes the Sept. 9th Deadline. In the seven years I watched my kids go through ROTC they never made one posted date or deadline. Here's hoping this is the first.

I started lurking here in 2009 and would agree with this assessment and told my son the same... ;)

Shocked!!!!.....Ok not really.

CC really needs to revamp how they post date deadlines.

Sept. 9th We wish.
Sept. 21st We hope.
Sept. ?? Most likely.
Oct. ?? What we really mean.

This is good practice because I assure you they won't make the date for Branching either.

Hang in there, it will happen when you least expect it.

Eventually it'll happen, is essentially what I'm going with. I'm more concerned with doing well senior year and providing a solid base for the years to come.
 
I never fully expected the exact dates for component or branches just like previous years. I'd expect branching to come though as late as the week or two before Christmas.
 
Our PMS is still skeptical, but hasn't heard anything on the radar about it changing..
 
No news but no word that it's been pushed back either...my son's unit was told they were "waiting on the approval of some general". Not sure if that's to approve the actual list or approve the release of said list :sigh:
 
Just heard from DS release date is pushed back to some undetermined future date...and so it goes.
 
My son's Colonel just told them 10 minutes ago the list will be released tomorrow, Sept 22nd
 
At this point it's anyone's guess, day by day.

I remember last year after the second delay a couple days went by and out of the blue he got a text from another cadet that the PMS had just told him the results so he changed and booked it to the office.

Not sure why they even give these release dates, they never meet them. They should just not say anything until they have the information in hand, less stressful I think.

EDIT: Just saw the post above, will keep fingers crossed.
 
AROTC was told this morning at Fordham what their component, active or reserve/guard, was. Congrats all
