AROTC CST 2024

We drove ours home right afterwards. He'll need to let them know. The HRA I think? They even recommend at the family day presentation to load their gear that night when you bring them back so you can hit the road right away. His graduation was shortened because it was moved indoors for weather and we were on the road before 9.
Congrats on your son completing his course! How early would you recommend showing up for graduation? My mother is elderly and I need to take her mobility into consideration in regard to seating. I know grad starts at 8, but how early can you turn up?

We arrived at 0700 and probably 70 people lined in front of us to get in gym for first reg graduation at 0800. They ran out of room and by 745ish people were standing on the indoor track. Also, don’t forget line to get through gate from off post.

Exactly this. We also got there around 7. Where were you in relation to the people with the cute Yorkie in the backpack carrier, lol?

I followed earlier recommendations to stay on post and would also recommend 100%.

Note that 1st Reg graduation was moved indoors because of weather. I would probably also get there by 7 if it was outdoors.

You're assuming he wasnt the one with it? ;-) jk. Congrats to both of your cadets!

Great information here! Thank you to all who came before.

Based on this, looking to stay on post and get to graduation early. Going to try to squeeze every minute we can with DS, because he flies out of Louisville just a few hours after graduation for OCONUS CTLT.

We were probably within 10 people of you. We were in line just as it turned from sidewalk to line up along parking lot entrance.

PSA: If you can't make the graduation and want to watch at home. AROTC Facebook goes live with the graduation about 8am. I have seen their Youtube go live in the past, but it wasn't available this morning.

If my daughter boyfriends parents can’t come in for their sons 5th regiment graduation because they live many states away I will probably go with her to support him. May wear my AF shirt 😝

Just curious to the families that have already attended the family day & graduation— was it worth paying for flights/hotels etc. I’m about 9 hours away so definitely not driving distance and just trying to justify the trip’s expenses. :) Any insight would be great and much appreciated!

Think of it as one of numerous milestones the cadet will have throughout their career. The big one at this point is obviously commissioning. After that, promotions and sometimes completion of various trainings programs. The latter may be harder for you to attend, as they're typically wherever the officer is serving -- across the country, across the ocean.

So ask yourself whether this is worth the trouble, knowing they don't necessarily get any easier to attend down the road. It's a personal decision, and I trust your cadet will understand your reasoning. But again, it's a choice amid many to come.

My DD was at Knox last year, 9th Reg. I don’t miss that at all. That was rough for me, but she did well. This year I get a difference experience with my DS at NSI but I’m sticking my nose in here because go Army! 🤭
I had to laugh when I saw my reply to this post. Son went to NSI, decided Navy wasn’t for him and is now all in with Army ROTC. So go Army! 😂
