AROTC January Board Acceptance

Thanks for the info kydad. We're in the same situation as you and I'm having my son contact his PMS at #1 school to see what they have to say.

Thank you for all the information. My son's pms did tell us that he has a very good chance to get a Scholarship for this school, that he put down MSU as his first choice and he has already got his certificate of admission that I faxed to cc when I faxed more info to them. His second choice school said that he would have no problem with getting a certificate of admittance with them and we are in the process with that. His pms also told us recently that he can do the smp program if he is not offered a ROTC scholarship. He also said that he wants those students who desire to be at MSU, so even after the "dust has settled" they will do all they can to assist him in realizing his goal. His pms has been very good thru this process and he said he gave him the highest score he can give for his interview. I think the pms at this college is very nice and helpfull.

We originally put (7) schools on my daughters list. Like many of you on here, I thought school choice may play a factor in admission so we chose an "off the beaten path" school (Montana State) as her 1st choice...we originally had Michigan #1 until we thought of the smaller school theory.

Living in SoCal her whole life, my daughter wanted a change snd looked to schools where there are (4) seaons and preferably snow. Our final list was:

1) University of Portland...we had actually never heard of the school and it wasn't on our original list. They contacted us and said "take a look". We did and my daughter loved what she saw. Goes for a campus visit in 2 weeks.
2) Michigan (reach school and top nursing program)
3) Montana State (snow, snowboarding and Bozeman!!)
4) Northern Arizona (have been here on visit, liked it alot but not loved)
5) Texas (my favorite football team)
6) North Carolina (just a great school)
7) Ohio State (club field hockey team - great school)

Anyway, we were told today by PMS that Portland, Michigan and Northern Arizona are the (3) choices offered. She still needs to get accepted at Michigan and then we are also going to make a campus visit. *HUGE* differences between 3600 student Portland and 36000 student Michigan campuses.

Just curious, has anyone else been contacted by a PMS? We haven't heard a thing. Maybe others were just more pro-active than we have been?

I was not contacted by a PMS till well after I had already gotten a scholarship. So if you don't hear anything, don't worry.

Even then, it was from a school on my original list, but not on the list of schools offered.

2) Michigan (reach school and top nursing program)
Congrats k2rider to you and your daughter. My daughter was offered an AROTC scholarship for nursing to her top 5 colleges by the last board. Good luck with the Michigan acceptance, I hope she gets in.

Is that it? The board is over? Are they still awarding scholarships or what? No change on my status, so did my packet roll over to the next board?

Yes, the board is over and all results posted. Yes, the packed will be rolled over to the next board so all you have to do now is play the waiting game with the rest of us. I suggest you contact the PMS of the school where the interview was conducted and talk to that person to get a better feeling for yourself. Good luck:smile:

so what do you think my chances are if these are my stats:
GPA- 4.1
ACT- 24
SAT- 1100 (not too good)
PT test- 33 pushups in 1 minute, 45 situps in 1 minute and a 8:10 mile
Played softball for 3 years in high school
Executive Rep of student council

^^^
Depends on which colleges you are applying to, how many scholarships they have available at those schools, and how competitive the applicant pool is within those schools. Call the AROTC rep at your schools and ask him / her how you stand. Good Luck! :thumb:

Congratulations K2Rider. We are in Seattle and I can definately say U of Portland is a wonderful school. My uncle went there on an ROTC scholarship MANY years ago. My daughter wants to major in pre-vet and is off to CalPoly (ROTC class of '14). Before she settled on the pre-vet path we had Portland high on our list for liberal arts colleges.

My daughter was contacted within 10 days of getting everything turned in by the PMS at her 1st school choice which was Montana State at that time. That was back in mid October. Funny thing is, we never heard from him again. Sometime in November, we heard from the PMS' at Portland and Michigan. They have all been very supportive and accessible. We never heard from the other (4) schools in any way, shape or form.

She is also in the NROTC process and we have never heard anything from anybody with that program....no schools, no PMS, no military, no nothing!!!

Did she interview with anyone? What is her status on the NROTC scholarship site?

Thank you, I will pass that info along to her.

I'm not sure what my daughter will like best but she's going to have to choose between Portland's initimate campus and Michigan's monster layout. For example, Portland has one "Commons/food' area, Michigan has seven. At least it's good knowing she can't go wrong either way.

That is the same with our son. He interviewed with his local choice and never heard from him again. His 2nd choice has been very active, sending emails to the kids, etc. That really left an impression on my husband and me. We have never heard from the other schools.

I have applied for a NROTC scholarship as well, and just like many others are saying...i have not heard anything at all; no schools, no pms, no military, nothing! My status says its at Pensacola, Florida for final processing and review, as well as "no decision has been made."

ROTC hopeful

Can you tell me if they automatically register for DoDMERB? The status finally changed telling us to visit the DoDMERB site, but his name and social is not found? What does that mean?

Nothing to worry about, DoDMERB has not yet recieved the names of this months scholarship board winners. I was told by Larry Mullen to check in a week or so. Then when you enter his name and SSN, it should come up once they get this months winners in.

Hey guys, I'm new here but have been following this thread for about a week as it's been extremely helpful in trying to figure out the scholarship process. Anyway, on Friday I got the DoDMERB status and was wondering when it will change to my school list? Would it be okay for me to email the PMS at my top school and try to get some answers?

(I know, I should probably try and be more patient.)

I have been told that the site should update with the list of schools either tomorrow or wednesday! :thumb:
