AROTC January Board Acceptance

Three days ago we told that our son had received a 4year AROTC scholarship.Yesterday his top and bottom schools were listed on status website( which he has been accepted to both). After reading posts we are anxiously awaiting physicals. Good Luck to EVERYONE.

Army rotc

have done all the necessary steps for the Army four year scholarship. I have had my profile in since august, but was wondering if i didnt have a strong enough one since i havnt been notified of acceptance. I have a 24 act, 3.81gpa national honors society, eight varsity letters, and am a shift leader were i work. Is is similar to what others have. Or am i long shot for the scholarship? Also when will the next boards meet? thanks

Based on that limited info, I wouldn't say you're a longshot. My daughter's weakest area by far was her standardized test scores. She also got a 24 on the ACT. The English portion always drags her down. Her GPA was a little better than your but probably only due to the fact that she takes all AP/Honors courses.

I don't know what they are looking for in the essays. One PMS told me he didn't even think they are read by the boards. I know my daughter's leadership stuff was strong as were her recommendations. Good luck!!

thanks

well my reading has always brought me down. However i have taken all honors and also taking classes at a college campus my senior year. My weighted GPA is around 4.23. This is what want to do, and am worried now after the first couple rounds have passed. i had felt confident, until of recently. so i can only hope for the best. when will the board meet agian?

I would call or email the PMS at your #1 school to make sure your application has made it to the boards. That's what we did. We were uncertain because of all the lost forms and resubmissions etc etc.

Applicants with similar stats to ours have also been awarded scholarships. It's just a matter of time now. We're just waiting for our turn.

The next boards are the first week of March but I wouldn't be surprized to read about notifications all the way up then.

There's a lot of info on the previous postings that will help.

is dodmerb updated with ss and dob for anyone yet? mine still says it has no record...also has anyone received the packet from cadet command with the scholarship information and accept/reject form?

Same here....I have an e-mail in to Mr Mullen and he told me he'll respond by midnight to this issue. I'll let you know.

After reading about how well everyone else has done it makes me worry about my own application.

My GPA is about 3.58
Have several college credits
ACT 21 :/
I'm 5'9" and 145 lbs
My Mile time is 5 Min 24 Sec
Push ups: 56
Sit ups:63
I played High School JV soccer freshman and sophomore years and lettered Varsity soccer Junior year.
I was on a club team during that time too.
I haven't had a job.
I have plenty of leadership activities ex. Camp Counselor, Leading a volunteer Landscaping crew, and making it to the summit MT. Adams.
And I recently faxed a recommendation from a retired Colonel to cadet command.

I've applied for Gonzaga University, University of Portland, and Oregon State University. (In that order) I finished my application in October and have been patiently waiting for a change of my status. I'm going to remain optimistic even though my chances may be slim. Oh and I interviewed at UP, great school!

Received the packet from Cadet Command this weekend. Still no updates to DoDMERB status. Son already took physical so just waiting to see AROTC listed on the status page.

Can you tell us what date it gives you to send the acceptance back by? This will give us an indication of when we might hear offers from the next board. Thanks and congratulations!

My son received scholarship offers to two of his schools on Thursday. On Friday, CC updated his list with another school. This sent son into confusion as to what to do. One is out of state, the other is local and all would be paid for (school is very generous with its ROTC scholarship winners). We haven't received anything in the mail yet and we can't log onto the DoDMERB website, either. Not complaining, just wanted to let you know that you aren't the only one:smile:

Recieved scholarship to Arizona State. Still no letter from Cadet Command yet.

I don't have the offer packet with me but I believe the respond by date is March 6.

Timeline of events:

Monday, February 1 - Scholarship status changed to "check DoDMERB" and received email from PMS at one of school choices
Thursday, February 4 - List of schools appeared on scholarship status page
Saturday, February 6 - Received packet from Cadet Command with accept/reject form and general scholarship information

Nearly identical for us....except her scholarship status changed (or at least we noticed it) on Sunday, Feb 28th. Letter arrived on Feb 6th and we have to respond by March 6th.

Oh....and still no update on the DoDMERB board for us either so we can't get the physical scheduled. I just need to *mentally* get past that point and then I know we're home free :)

my packet from cadet command still hasnt arrived...do you think i should be worried?

I would wait a week or so. Depending on where you live, the packets arrive at different times.

If you still don't have it, then I would call Cadet Command and/or the PMS at the school you got the scholarship to in order to figure out what is going on.

This is my second time through the AROTC process but still a little tension-filled waiting on things to happen. Have you looked at the forms on the DoDMERB applicant site? Form DD2492 is the medical history form that your daughter will take with her to the exam. It is a good idea to look through that and see if any items might be marked as "Yes". These will need to be explained in more detail and could require additional documentation, explanation, or medical records. That will not happen until the exam results are sent to DoDMERB. The DoDMERB forum has much more information on this and Mr. Mullen offers outstanding advice and assistance as someone "in the know". Hopefully your daughter will not have any issues and you will see a "Qualified" medical status soon after DoDMERB receives the exam results.

Just checked the mail....my son received his letter today.

rotcdonde, we are on the west coast. We received our mailed packet several days after others received their letter from the December board. So, if the first letters arrived Saturday, you will probably have yours by mid-week.
