Does anybody know when we will be finding out about the announcement of the AROTC scholarships from the January board? I am asking this because at my interview, my interviewer told me I was guaranteed to receive the scholarship; I just want to know the schools I will receive it to.

My choice of schools in this order (USMA is my first choice overall):
    Notre Dame
    William and Mary
    Rhode Island
    The Citadel

I have already been accepted into The Citadel and I should hear back from Notre Dame within the next few days. I was hoping to hear back about the scholarship since I have not applied to Vanderbilt, Bucknell, William and Mary, and Rhode Island. If possible I would like to spare the money that would go to these application fees if I am accepted and receive the scholarship to Notre Dame; I can just focus on Vanderbilt.
    Thank you

Your interviewer cannot guarantee you an ROTC Scholarship.

Notification of Scholarship Offers from the JAN Board will not occur until late JAN or early FEB.

Why in the world world would one delay applying to their first choice school? And why would one delay in applying to the others? Yes, it's nice to save a buck and knowing would allow you to do that. But you don't know, and you may not know even by the end of January. So it's decision time. Wouldn't it be best to get on with the applications now? Are you going to spend your whole life waiting? Or are you going to get on with it and determine your own path.

Looks to me like these are the deadlines you're facing:
    - Vandy - Jan 3
    - Bucknell - Jan 15
    - Georgetown - Jan 10
    - William and Mary - Jan 1
    - Rhode Island - Feb 1

At best, you might hear from the Jan Boards before the Rhode Island deadline. Place your bets and take your chances.

The cost of applying to one more college (100>) seems to me to be small in the scheme of things... if ROTC doesnt work out you're looking at 10,000 room /board and maybe 40,000 tuition. Apply everywhere to keep your options open (thats my plan)

I agree with the other posters, apply now. There is no guarantee of when the notifications for the Jan. Board will be posted.

Your interviewer sort of put the cart before the horse, there is no way possible that he can guarantee that you will receive a scholarship. Realize that school selection has almost as much to do with getting the scholarship as your application stats. The schools you listed are very competitive and seem to fill up fast. While you may have an impressive application, there will most likely be many others with equal or better stats applying to the same schools.

This is why you need to have your admission applications in to every school on your list because there is no telling which school you would be offered if and when you receive the scholarship. There is also a good chance that you don't receive a scholarship offer until the final board in March, so getting those applications done now would be a smart move on your part.
