Availability at Schools of Intent

Since a scholarship winner can be awarded to their "top three schools of intent" (for example), do they "double-book" any of the slots at the schools, knowing a scholarship winner cannot attend all three? How does that affect schools of intent for another scholarship winner (say, on the 2nd board)? If a school has only one slot, will they only book one scholarship winner? TIA!

Assumption is you are talking about Army ROTC

There is some flexibility in the number of scholarships awarded to a school, and before each round of offers the previous rounds of offers must be accepted or declined, so Cadet Command has some control over how many offers are made to a particular school. Bottom line is you won’t know how many offers a particular school will receive, so don’t worry about something you can’t control and don’t try to “outthink” the process. Put down the schools you want to attend, and are a good fit and hope for the best.

My DS was awarded a scholarship, but did not get into his top choice listed and it was a pretty easy process to have the scholarship transferred to his 2nd choice.

Ah, yes. Thank you! Was wondering specifically about Army and Air Force ROTC. By your comment, Air Force ROTC must assign schools differently. So much still to learn!
AFROTC cadets can attend any college that has an AFROTC unit. The AFROTC scholarship is tied to the student and not the school, unlike AROTC and NROTC.

For anyone who is looking at this thread for Navy ROTC, when I wanted to switch my number one school to my number two school, it was a quick email to the Petty officer in charge of my local area’s ROTC applications. It got approved in less than a day
