Hey guys! I know that there's been multiple similar threads to this one, but mine is... well... a bit unique. I took the math placement exams today (I did not study, although I probably should have). I ended up failing both, especially the Calc 1 with a score of around 45%. OUCH!

I was in AP Calculus BC last year and never saw a failing grade, so this really caught me by surprise. It's been a while since I've seen precalculus content so that wasn't a huge worry of mine. I fully plan on retaking Calc 1 at the Academy, but should I be worried about my appointment?

Thanks!

My son got a perfect score on the math SAT first try and had AP Calc BC and got an A...he didn’t do as well as he expected either, not a fail but not his typical. He was in AP stats this year and said he was rusty on the calc a bit.

Are any current cadets willing to share your scores and where you were placed? And has anyone had luck requesting Calc 1 if they did poorly on the placement exam but did well in high school calc?

Don’t overthink this. The SAs have a long history of assessing and placing cadets/mids in the classes that best fit them. The SAs want to set you up for success. So go with the flow and let the pieces fall where they will.

I had read somewhere that if you place into the lower level (below calc 1) that do not get summer leave after your first year. Is that correct?
