C/O '26 parents - place to commiserate and share. Roller coaster for the next 3 years!

My DS is really looking forward to spring break because the Glee Club is traveling to Japan for it! I won't see him but my younger DS is going to be on checking colleges out in New England area. He has now decided to apply to USNA (yikes, a potential 2nd kid there!) I hope that info comes out about summer blocks. I'd love to have some idea when I might see DS. It is hard to go to 2 times a year only! (Yes, when in the fleet it might be even less - I know).
Mine is very much looking forward to the spring break tour as well! Would love to be traveling along in his suitcase. Heading up to Annapolis for winter musical today.

Did anyone attend the Winter Concert? My DGD is involved in that and I would have loved to have been there. Maybe next year.

... Thank goodness. 🙏

This should fire up some Mids.

... rollercoaster here, non stop, last plan was EOD, Pearl Harbor...

... I will do no more reverse psychology, full speed (Seals) ahead, damn the torpedoes.

Kid just said the new Dant that will be coming in is a S.E.A.L.

Going from a Marine to a S.E.A.L., huge step up in the world!! :eek2:
:biglaugh:
Varsity Sailor at USNA*.
VADM Davids (and her Seal husband) were Varsity Sailors at USNA.
OldRetSWO and SonOfOldRetSWO were Varsity Sailors at USNA as well.

* Not the first team member to become Commandant

He said that he will be coming onboard October 1. Kid was psyched as well.

Been digging into the world of cyber as another option. Said rhe CAPT he was talking with said when on tactical tours, you could get placed anywhere. He was specifically embedded with Army spec ops on one of his tours, but you could end up on a sub, carrier, with a team, etc. Exciting world away from Ft. Meade!

... yes, lots of great training opportunities in joint spec ops environment. Once in a joint environment the only identifiable sign of one's service is the service tag in the uniform (or an aviator's flight suit or the Aussie's camouflage boonie hat.) Stay long enough and services / Allies become one. Some may attend a badge-qualifying school like Air Assault, Airborne, Pathfinder, and SF Combat Diver School. Jumping only once with an Allied Airborne unit can earn that country's Airborne badge. I jumped once with the Polish, British, and Italian units. But the Thai Airborne Wing is special: jump from an inflatable blimp attached to a cable hoist. The annual rotation in Thailand provided jumping opportunities. The Joint Ops University offers online courses too. Back in the day, it was available only in
secure desktops. These are career enhancing courses. It will look very nice in military records during promotion time.

He even talked about the SWO cyber option. You go on a ship, earn your SWO pin, then they immediately send you to do all the cyber warfare schooling and start your tactical tours with all of the communities.

He's really going to push for the three letter agencies summer tour/internship now. Wants to get that higher level clearance moving.

We did! Fantastic show. What did your DGD do? Have some cast pictures I can share
DGD was the stage manager. She said the performers were all marvelous and all shows received standing ovations! I would love to see pictures! She did send us a picture of the performers with the superintendent and a picture of the tech crew.

Someone educate me, please. Received a vague text last night. What does it mean when you mid says, “just got back from the sub dive”?

I do know it wasn’t an actual submarine.
