C/O '26 parents - place to commiserate and share. Roller coaster for the next 3 years!

I'm bumping our youngster's thread. Sorry that I used the old one. I've seen lots of pictures of the snow, snow people/MIDN, etc. Most recent picture I saw was my DS company doing morning workout a few days ago, the company420684188_1376341653255062_761247125651803.jpg remembering Mason Halsey, the MIDN who recently passed away. Definitely connecting spirit in the workout. Good to see the way they support each other.

... so
amazing smiles, remember when they were Plebes??
It's the same smile my DS had during the Christmas break: Happy 😁

What a beautiful picture.

... so I've read somewhere that the 3/C year is the most pleasant because they are no longer Plebes (away from those demeaning acts) and still a year away from serious 2/C responsibilities (taking over firsties' jobs after graduation).
Regardless, I'm just glad that they are all happy.

... so part of his leadership development was dealing with higher ups. I think if you are in the military 🎖️ business long enough, you will have one or two or three Commanders who are just borderline conduct unbecoming (smart enough not to get a UCMJ investigation {layman's terms a total jack@$$}).
Plebe Spring Semester, he made a D- in Naval History and while making mostly A's including Calculus. He just couldn't see eye to eye with this fellow. I've guided him most of his life so I know where he is coming from. And I surely knew the type of leader the professor was. The type I don't want to meet in BWI or I'll deal with him. A parent from C/O '25 mentioned that this professor was just fired. At this early on his military journey, I don't really mind if he only stays for 5 years after graduation. Life is too short and there's no need to be subjected to tyrannical and maniacal military commanders.

So, the dude turns 21 this coming weekend. :eek3:

Sending him a Yum Yum Club cake and decorations on Friday. He's taking a weekend I think and meeting up with his GF for his first "official" drink. He doesn't like alcohol, so it isn't that big of a deal for him. But still a milestone!

Milestone for sure! You’re getting old;)

We had the terrible twos, a threenager, a fournado, you name it. The littlest dude has been the worst for sleeping of all our kids and has so much attitude and is so stubborn, it has aged me more than the grey hair shows!

But he worships his mid-sib, and likes all things military (much to his mom's chagrin). Perhaps c/o '41 or '42 ...... :bleh2:

Kid just said there are 22 3/C applying for 8 detailer positions in his company for PS.

And they said they can't get his TS done by the summer, so no internship with NGA for him.

Stay on the Yard, yell at newbs, go out to DTA and enjoy adult life with friends on the weekend.

(I think a lot of it is motivated by getting to rail on the newbs - to the extent they are allowed to now).

The role of detailer isn’t as sexy as it seems (even with the prospect of “railing at the newbies”). The hours are long and exhausting — even more so than for the plebes, if you can believe that. The level of accountability is high. There’s pressure to perform, as it’s an important training opportunity. Retailers work only half of plebe summer — I believe partly to spread the opportunity, partly to not wear them out.

Oh, I totally get it. I bet most don't know what they're getting themselves into. ;)

I had some good conversations with my drills in boot camp at the end of it. It was rough on them, and they were doing it all over every 8 - 12 weeks! That's a tough gig.
