Totally unbiased- Although a large number of my cousins are Auburn alums and will probably be horrified to read this :rolleyes:- Any school that can't decide if their mascot is a bird or a cat (War Eagle or Tiger??) is not gonna win the national championship. I predict the Ducks by 7!
 
I'll take Auburn 41-33. Newton reminds me of Vince Young at Texas. Oregon has a lot of firepower and may jump out ahead early. I think the Auburn defense settles down and Newton takes over. Ahh! the speculation. Makes college football great. BTW, Texas picked up their new def. coordinator from the SEC (Diaz from Miss. State) who held the Tigers to their lowest point total of the year. As the terminator says: "Ve'll be baack!". In the meantime, good luck!

'War Eagle' = Battle Cry
"Tigers" = Nickname and Mascot

Auburn folk understand this quite well, but it's certainly understandable that it is confusing to everyone else since we have an eagle (named 'Tiger') fly around the stadium before each home game. The mascot is a tiger named 'Aubie'. 'War Eagle' is the greeting that one Auburn fan says to another.
We are the Auburn Tigers not the Auburn War Eagles!

The real concern about the game is not the whether we will win or not. It's that the state of Alabama is being hit right now by a freakish snow/ice storm ( 6-8 inches :eek: Thundersnow :confused:).
Losing power = CAN"T WATCH THE GAME!!!

Maybe we should have shelled out the $2000 per ticket and gone to the game. :rolleyes:

Well, I'll have to make Army the focus this year, as my beloved Buckeyes were run aground by that no-good, self-aggrandizing, hoodrat garbage thug Terrelle Pryor. I'm glad he's gone, but he took a good man down with him. So it'll be a rough year for the Buckeyes. But, we did have yet another outstanding season, and in the past two years have defeated both the SEC and PAC-10 in bowl games, so I can't complain too much.

I'm hoping Army puts it together this year.

As for you, buff81, who's Auburn got on the payroll this year? :wink: (flamesuit). I keed...I keed....but, you know, not really...

I bet everybody in the ACC, except Canes, are thrilled because now they have 1 less game to worry about!

Both our children attend ACC schools, DD just called me to say that her school has printed the game day shirt for UMiami... it say U Who?

The Miami thing is unreal. Cash, prostitutes, abortions...sickening. It makes a few kids selling/trading their own property for tattoos seem pretty darn tame.

That made me chuckle because DD's school has a stronger FB team than DS's and she threw that in his face. DS turned to her and said who the H cares about FB in the ACC, BB is where it counts!

Have a great time this weekend. While the Nittany Lions won, they were not very impressive, at times. There were alot of empty seats, over 14,000. The 2 quarterback system won''t work for long. I also went to the Football eve, Friday night JOEPA sounds like he had a stroke. somethings wrong. If they play the way, at times against Indiana State. They will get beat badly by Alabama. I am going up for Homecoming Game and the Nebraska Game, too. I go up for the weekend and stay at the Nittany Lion Inn. I see that NAVY very impressive game.

I always laugh at that everybody dresses up for a FB game! I have to ask our 2 that play your preppy team if when they come to their school do they still wear collared shirts, ties and khakis?

Watching the WV game yesterday, made me think what if that was one of their games? I don't know any man who would opt to wear a tie that long for a FB game.:wink:

Pity goes out to DS tonight, weather forecast for their opening game is rain.

What's with the Nike Pro Combat uniforms?

I see a trend.
Georgia and Oregon + Nike Pro Combat uniforms + season opener = getting stomped

Watching Miami and Maryland right now and having somewhat the same reaction to their uniforms. :thumbdown:
 
The UMD uniforms made me think of the character from Batman...2 face. I think they designed it that way to create a mental confusion so the other team would have to remind themselves what team they were actually playing.

I get it was the flag of the state, but I preferred the other uniforms they wore during warm ups, especially the helmet.

One thing that ticked me off as a parent of UMC student, this yr again there was another tuition increase of @10% and all I thought was if that is how they spent the money, I want a refund!
 
Trying to schedule this one. Should be a great experience. Closer to the game date some tickets may be available for the game if not all seats are sold out.

There are a lot of other tours promoting the game but many do not have game tickets. Check carefully to make sure they have tickets included.
