Hello! I just had a couple questions regarding the candidate activity record.
1. Should I record the number of varsity letters I received from my freshman to junior year which would be 3 years or should I just put 4 years including my senior year?

2. I'm not really sure what it means when they ask for a number of years that I did a club. For some clubs I was an officer for only a year and I things during the summer which doesnt really count for a year so I'm not really sure what to do.

thank you!

I’m only familiar with USNA and USAFA applications, but they provide detailed instructions (ie: USAFA want activities only through 11th grade and USNA would like projected activities through senior year) as to how to fill out the application. Make sure you check/read instructions provided to you. I would think USMA would also provide instructions to candidates. Especially regarding question #1.

As far as question #2, a year ‘generally’ means academic year when talking about school activities. So freshman year is one year. Not the actual January to December year.

Cam some one confirm regarding USMA if they need EC record till junior year or projected senior also?

For USNA and USAFA you can put down varsity letters that you expect to receive. When I was working on the application last year I recorded the varsity letters I expected to earn my senior year.

To answer your second question anytime there isn't a box for you to check, it can always be added to the remarks or resume section of the application.

Ask your FFR.

DD asked her FFR who told her to only include what she had earned. If she didn't earn it, she didn't put it down. Since you are participating, then you do count that. Hers all say:
4 year sport
3 year letter
1 year captain
You can always add them to your record later.

Again, ask your own FFR.

If USAFA has provided instructions to fill till junior year, would that be valid if one puts projected for senior?

But..this is USMA thread, and you should ask your BGO, ALO etc to confirm what is expected.
DD did confirm and include anticipated varsity letter for USNA.

The SA application process — regardless of school — is an exercise in attention to detail and following directions. For that matter, so is much of the SA experience itself. Act accordingly.

And LOOK it UP in THEIR instructions. It’s an easy question: do I include senior activities or not. This isn’t a new thing. All SA’s have been at this a long time. And are very thorough. So their instructions to candidates should be clear on this point.

Check your own sources from your SA. You’ve already received conflicting info here. And each SA has their own instructions. Honestly instructions should be pretty clear on this one.

The instruction booklet for each SA is detailed and answers 98% of questions. Any grey area should be addressed with your POC at each SA. They aren't kidding when they say the devil is in the details. Our DS printed each booklet and they are in the binder so they can be easily referenced when need be, which has been frequent.

I printed the pdf for USMA, USAFA candidate kit. Both the instruction sets have clarified that EC are to be listed till senior year. It’s pretty clear instructions.
