My unofficial title besides “Dad” has become “Proofreader” this Summer as I’m sure many of you are familiar with. Sometimes DS and I have differing opinions on things.... which I’m also sure many of you are familiar with. Word usage, sentence structure, etc. Today’s in home debate is: Is it worth noting in a MOC resume that he will be attending USNA CVW in September? He currently has it with an asterisk at the bottom of a page. I feel it deserves to be more than just an asterisk sub-note as it shows valid interest. Thoughts/opinions?

IMHO, no - I would not include it -- although this shows interest in the SA, it is essentially a participation "award". I tried to guide my DS to include items that reflect leadership or significant effort.

This opinion and $5 might buy you a cup of coffee... ;)

Just my opinion mind you, but I really don't think that the MOCs (by and large) care if a candidate has visited (or will visit) an academy.
Many in the past have been offered Appointments having never set foot in the State of Maryland (or New York, or Colorado) before.

Agree with the others. CVW really does not belong on a resume or CV.

Your DS could mention it during interviews or include his anxious anticipation of it in his essay.

agree it's not something for the resume, but it might be worthwhile to work it into the MOC essay, to demonstrate interest and motivation. one or two things that you experienced that really confirmed your reasons for wanting to attend.
as mentioned above, these are also great topics to work into your interview responses

    best of luck!

Agree that a CVW can be worked in essays and interviews fairly easily.

As you know, not all applicants qualify for a MOC (committee, not the MOC themselves) interview. One has to have the SAT/ACT scores, etc. to get a seat at the interview table. Depending on the Congressional District you're in, this can be daunting. Agree that once there, the fact that your DD was accepted to attend can be mentioned. Good luck!!

I wouldn't even work it into an essay but would work it into the interview, where it can be mentioned in a more casual manner. "I fell in love with the campus while on a CVW."

Do not include it in the resume’. There are too many other details, such as awards and other accomplishments, to be included. From the CVW, your DD should be able to dive deeper into her MOC essay writing because of her experiences from her visit. My DS wrote his essays post-visit weekend on his flight back home, and it made such a difference in his writing. Although he was not granted an Appointment, he was granted two MOC noms and also had the Pres. The CVW was a remarkable visit. Best wishes!
