Can't Stop Thinking About USNA

I'm currently a 4/C NROTC Midshipman on scholarship but I can't stop wondering on whether I should reapply to USNA. On one hand, I like the freedoms that I have as a half-normal college student, but I really don't mind the NROTC commitments. I was dead set on USNA for a number of years and it wasn't something that left my mind after I got rejected last April. It nags at me everytime I see my plebe friends posting on social media. I'm also considering it for the possibility (albeit small) of being able to commission into the Restricted Line Intelligence Community, something that isn't even an option for NROTC. I went to a CVW my junior year of high school, but so much has changed that I don't know anymore. And a flight to Annapolis is long and expensive, so that's currently out of the question. I can still apply for my Congressman, Presidential, VP, and NROTC Unit for nominations if I do decide to apply. Any thoughts on the situation other than just to apply and weigh my options if I can ultimately snag an appointment?

If you don’t apply will you continue to question if you should have? If you are going to continue to question the would of, could of, should of then apply. If not, put it behind you and focus on your current path and don’t look back. I wouldn’t count on Intel or let it be the driving factor. The more likely path is going SWO and applying from the fleet.

Your time is running out to apply for MOC nominations.....

Go ahead and apply. Last year, you didn't hear until April.
There's time to soul-search while you're waiting.

If you do get offered an appointment, you can still decline if you have decided by then that NROTC is the right fit for you.
Also, do you want to commission in 2022 or 2023? Right now, you'll be an Ensign in 2022.
If the most important thing to you is serving your country as an Officer in the Navy, look ahead and not back. Stay the course.

You need to get hopping ASAP on the MOC nominations. Our state representatives all had a deadline of 10/1.

Thanks for your advice, I think I’m going to go for it and see what happens. Looks like I’ve got a lot of essays to write this weekend!

Apply Apply Apply! Don’t wait. Don’t look back. Go full throttle. If it’s meant to be it will happen. Many reappliants spend 1-2 years to get that Appointment. Some even 4. You got nothing to lose. And I would contract with NROTC when the time comes just in case you decide to remain where you are. You should be able to get a release if you Report to Annapolis.
