Is there a way to check and see if I passed the CFA or not? It shows it’s been submitted in the application portal but there is no way to check that I have found, was wondering if anyone had any insight.

your BGO can see whether or not you qualified, and can tell you. but BGO's don't see an actual score, just qualified or not qualified

i believe you could also ask your Admissions rep and they could tell you the same thing.

Candidates who do not pass will receive a letter from Admissions. Assume you passed and keep training to take it again. Expect to win!

Keep training and taking it until there is no doubt you passed! This is something in your control, unlike many things in the application process.

There is no reason to keep taking the CFA if your scores are good. Much better ways to spend your time and, USNA doesn't "superscore" the CFA so you could end up doing worse and having those scores count.

You can gauge your scores against the maximums. USNA particularly focuses on the mile run, push-ups and sit-ups/crunches, though all elements are important. Your BGO can also provide some guidance (based on experience, not info published by USNA) regarding whether you should retake.

Shouldn’t matter because if you don’t improve your scores, you wouldn’t submit them. You “superstore” yourself by choosing which scores to send. If you can do significantly better, do so.

Don't think it works that way. You have to ask your RD to zero out your "old" scores in order for the new ones to be inputed. So the old ones would disappear. I suppose that you could wait to do that until you retake the CFA. BUT, I'm pretty sure the administrator must include the date of the test and I don't believe the date of the new test should be before the date the old scores are zero'ed out.

@usna1985, that's my point. You can decide whether your original scores are worth replacing. And then, and only then, do you initiate the process to do so. If you can't beat the original score, then there's nothing to do.

MidCakePa,

I don't know whether USNA will accept scores where the test was completed prior to the scores being reset. I'm not sure. If they don't, then you are "at risk," unless you ask the administrator to post-date the test, which would be inappropriate.

MidCakePA is correct. Candidates are encouraged to improve their CFA scores. If a Candidate takes the CFA a second time and is unhappy with the scores (i.e. do not see improvement), they simply do not have their CFA administrator submit the scores, Then they train and improve (while taking their own practice tests at home) until they can improve their scores.

The point is this: instead of worrying about what's good enough to get in, Candidates should challenge themselves to improving ALL aspects of their application so that they are preparing themselves to do well AT the Academy AFTER they get in. Scoring perfectly (or near perfectly) on the CFA is not as difficult as it seems. At the Academy they will be expected to score well on the PRT and complete the physical mission of being a midshipman. Which means, get started now. And... don't give up the ship!

I think USNA1985 is correct
Admissions makes it very clear that if you retake the CFA, then your previous score if deleted once you request a re-take. You request the re-take and the form is sent to the test administrator before you do the CFA, not after.

If you game the system, there is nothing to prevent you from having someone administer the test, and if you like the score THEN send in the request to re-do the CFA, and then have the test administrator enter the scores - but you would have to post-date the results. But that's not the way it's supposed to be done.

I am almost positive that last year DD has to "pre-register" the CFA...meaning submit name/contact info of person who would administer the test and anticipted test date. The instructions for the person who admistered the test were sent directly to them. USNA was very clear that new scores (regardless of better or worse) would take the place of any existing score. She decided to practice on her own until she was sure she would be happy with results and then take it once. The rules last year did not reflect that you could take it without notifying USNA of your intent before hand.
