Here are my DS stats as a recruited swimmer for reference:
Basketball throw: 61' (his max effort was 67' during practice)
Pull-ups:13 (max effort: 16)
Shuttle run: 9 sec (best time during CFA)
Sit-ups: 76 (max effort: 88)
Push-ups: 68 (max effort: 76)
Mile Run: 5:54 (best time during CFA)
Note that pull-ups, sit-ups, and push-ups were not his best overall, but were what he got the day he tested. We practiced the CFA weekly for 6 weeks. It was hard with dual practices three days a week to find time to fit in additional exercise. He talked to his club coach and incorporated more of the upper body work during dry land training for swim practice. Some weeks it helped, other weeks he was too sore on Sunday's when we practiced the CFA. His numbers at times were all over the place, a lot depended on how swim practice was that week.
His WGPA is 4.1 UWGPA is 3.86 two AP's last year, three AP's this year. Eagle Scout with 3 palms. Three letters of recommendation beyond teacher recs. EC's include captain of the h.s. swim team as a senior. Varsity letter in swimming all 4 years. USA swimming scholar athlete. Several regional swimming awards. Church activities and community service activities. Hope this gives you a baseline. Not sure of all the factors coming into play, but have you been in regular touch with the swim coaches? We were always updating DS times as he got faster times with USAFA. We were totally surprised when the coaches put him in for the appointment as he had been told many times that he was not high on their list. He was just determined enough to get the app done early for the best shot at an appointment.
